My dad use to says . Even if you tell a lie an hundred times, it will never become a truth... This has always been in the back of my head. Sometime in treework you are in some specials situations , and in your head you says, it's going to work, it's going to work... I think this quote from my...

    ISC Rocker

In my opinion treework is about 3 things . Tree knowledge , proper work position and judgement. That device won't help in any of that , in some situation it could be actually worst for your positioning and your judgement. It's like a placebo effect...make you feel safe but what if the base of...

Had the chance yesterday to climb prune and brace this red maple. This is the biggest in DHP (98cm) that I've ever seen or work for that specie. Here they don't grow has big as silver maple or sugar maple and they have big issues with pollution and stuff. The owners of the house are really open...

Tried DSRT yesterday. I'm a fan.

Some of you are running two rope in one device using 8mm rope or so. My question is...wich rope are you using. If I'm not mistaking it's the same approach has twin rope for ice climbing or general mountaineering . I was looking at mammut , petzl, or edelrid rope in the 7.7 to 8.7 diameter at the...

Exactly Levi. In reallity on a base tie you are applying somewhere around 1,4 time your body weight on a limb depending on the scenario. The friction create by your rope around different limb between you and your top anchor on a base tie is the key in reducing force apply on the anchor. We all...

    About those mid-ties...

When people start rigging big limb I don't think they should guess the balance point of a branch , because they might get their teeths smak by the butt after the lever effect, if they are not on the sweet spot...Much more control with a spider leg or a DMM hub with a few slings , in my opinion...

Good job , it's not easy to go on the tip of those branchs and minimize small growth damage like you said. Seem like a pretty long job too. Maybe this is off topic but , how do you manage to keep your rope wrench and hitch cord workable when you climb conifers all days...??Any tricks?
