    Vinyl Music

So my parents downsized and in their move to a 700 sq ft cabin they found two Beatles albums mom bought when she was a kid. One was the first album before the Fab Four went on Ed Sullivan and the second was the white album. So Saturday three generations of us sat around listening to music on my...

    Starting out

+1 on an accountant and attorney. I did not do that and just had to tell my wife we have to pay the government this year. Didn’t know how taxes worked. Now we got hit with a 4K tax bill. So my wife is going to train with a local accountant on Quickbooks. So get an accountant and itemize and keep...

    Future education

Thanks guys! Wisconsin huh? I hadn’t looked that far from home. We live in one of the least populated counties in Virginia with more cows than people (truly!) and she does love cheese! And cows! Something to consider for sure. She might like to spread her wings up north and enjoy a “real”...

    Future education

Howdy tree ladies, My family has a small tree care business and my 11 yo daughter has been bitten by the climbing bug. She loves trees, being outside, and has worked with me numerous times. Thinking of the future for her; if she wants to make tree work her life would you recommend college? If...

This forum has been quite the eye opener

It sounds like you are thinking it through and not making hasty decisions. I’d add to know what is in your lane and don’t be afraid to walk when a tree is not in your lane. Listen to your gut and challenge yourself but “know when to fold em and know when to run” to paraphrase Kenny R. Enjoy the...

    What Grinds Your Gears?

Welcome to the Buzz and the industry. I just started my second year in tree care and my youngest daughter wants to climb and do tree work. Stay safe!

What's your idea of the best chainsaw pant and chainsaw chap?

I’d echo the durability factor. I am a one man show most days so climbing, dragging brush, and chipping are all part of my day. I think the gen 2 Zeros I have are perfect. I’ve got holes and rips in them from sharp pine branches but they hold amazingly well to abrasive bark and conditions. I...

    What Grinds Your Gears?

Called three times and 90 mins later was told the crew was short handed and would not make it out today it would have to be tomorrow. So no rain today perfect day to do the job and rain all day tomorrow. Hear that? That’s my gears grinding. Gotta zen out about it.

    Husky advice

I’ve not had the pleasure of running a husky saw but I think @rico uses them and loves them.

    Heavy dump trailer

I don’t have all the toys you do but have been happy with my 7x14x2 Load Trail dump trailer. It’s 14K and I got it in Knoxville, TN from Outlaw Trailers. I am pretty sure if you called them and told them what you needed they can get it for you.

Climbing boots for spikes/removal and trimming.

Thanks! Myb Thanks! My pair of Carolina’s lasted about 10 months before they got holes in them. I may have had a lemon pair though. I am hard on shoes.

Climbing boots for spikes/removal and trimming.

Yep. It ain’t easy. I hear you on the harness. I’m flying a Treemotion S. Light and love it. Of course I’ve never had the pleasure of trying a MCRS. I’ll call Hoffman’s and see what they say Gotta do something soon. Thanks!

damage to service drop, should I go ahead and pay the full amount or is there a way to reduce it?

Truer words have never been spoken. I had a conversation about that with my 11 yo daughter the other day. I said the same thing. . . only G rated for her.;)

Climbing boots for spikes/removal and trimming.

Thanks for the help! My local rock climbing store was able to send the boots back as I had not worn them outside. Which was nice. I wear a 8.5 US wide. You’ve mentioned those Hoffman’s and Wrangles before as well. My rock shop is a Scarpa dealer so they can order different sizes to fit me and...

    SRT/Ddrt Rope Suggestion

Gotcha. I’ve never climbed trees in the tropics. Do they have rough bark? I hear you about ropes being skinny and hard to grip. Thanks for the advice!

Climbing boots for spikes/removal and trimming.

I tried the Makalus on based on @rico recommendation and wish I could wear them. From what I gather @rico has been doing this work since before I was born and he was super generous with his advice and even took the time to answer a PM I sent him! Very cool and excellent advice. Unfortunately my...

    SRT/Ddrt Rope Suggestion

I’ve not climbed on Km3max. I agree that the Xstatic is a weird rope. I don’t like it’s hand at all. I’m finishing a job this week and will be purchasing another rope and am leaning towards the Bifrost kernmaster from Wesspur or the CE Calamine from Gap.

    Road safety

It’s just the HOA and the HOA president is a cop so he told me to block whatever I need. If it’s out in the community then I need a permit and call to the ‘thorities. In the HOA the longest I’ve blocked a road is 15 mins.
