    Show off them splices

Thanks @Brocky very helpful, as usual. By the way, what is NER?

    Show off them splices

This is an example of why I called it a locked Brummell and did a one fid bury each direction.

    Show off them splices

So assuming proper taper, the issue is the bury being pulled out? With the Brummell I find it hard to imagine that happening under load. Seemed more likely to be pulled out by accident or purposefully pulling on the burry leg. Am I missing something?

    Show off them splices

@Brocky, thanks for the feedback. I knew I was working to the best of my knowledge, which isn’t much. I was hoping for just this kinda feed back First, do you have a web resource where I can get a better understanding of the difference between locking Brummell and Brummell? I kinda followed...

    Show off them splices

First (successful) splice. Endless loop sling with locking Brummell and fid length bury.

Single guy, seeking sexy friction hitch...

Looks like it can be tied with a loop, but only by feeding the end of the line through the loop first, i.e. not midline attachable with a fixed loop.

    Hitch Hiker 2 availability

I have used the HH2 on arborplex. I used HRC as my hitch cord. I had to take more wraps to stop creeping down the line on SRT when compared to a double braid like blue moon.

    Limb caught on lanyard

My current set up for lanyard is a variation of this video below. It puts the lanyard as loops on my side and behind, but are close in and, as mentioned above, are small targets. Being so generally close in to my saddle allows my positioning to act as the primary means of controlling the...

    Glued splices

Major issue with adhesives is lack of inspectability. If threads are broken and a splice is compromised, it's much easier to *see* than a compromised adhesive.

    Pulleys are force multipliers.

As I am reflecting on the effects of friction, it also makes me appreciate the value of natural crotch rigging to decrease the loading forces by the friction involved. I had been wanting to add x-rings to our set up, (we mostly do natural crotch rigging), and this video hasn't necessarily made...

    Pulleys are force multipliers.

Thanks for this. Really helpful in thinking these applications through. In the part where you remove the sag, it seems to me you are imparting more potential energy by lifing the pulley, which is transfered as tension on the line. Seems rather like sweating a rope to pre tension it, but with a...

    Retrevial options for pulley saver

I made a pulley saver and have two different sized washers. One to run the rope through. and a smaller one that fits through the pulley but not the other washer. I cannot say it's beautiful, but it works.

    Sticht Hitch

Thanks for the tip. I climb with a figure 8 on my saddle so that safety consideration is taken care of.

Finally, got a round to playing with this. Bought a couple small ISC aluminum rings. Set one up with HRC on my lanyard and have another with HRC I am going to play with on my main positioning line. (By the way, the HRC from my recent Tree Stuff purchase feels like a different core - more wiry...

Switch side of the butterfly in the friction saver

@diramazioni , it looks like you solved your original post yourself. In considering what you said about smart rope management, I think I see what you are trying to accomplish. I can see why what you are doing would make it easier to re-crotch after ascent. I don't know what your climbing...

Switch side of the butterfly in the friction saver

Hi @diramazioni, Welcome. I am wondering why you are choosing to use a friction saver with SRT? What problem are you trying to solve? Why not install your rope without the saver? Friction savers find their cheif use in DDRT systems to protect the tree and lower friction for the system when the...

    Elbows and wrists

I have found a lot of help from Kelly Starrett's YouTube channel. I found him in my CrossFit days. He is a Dr of physiotherapy and Olympic level athlete. He mostly treats sports injuries, but his stuff is really good for self diagnosis and treatment of muscular and movement junk. His motto is...

    Hitch hiker/2/x thread

In case anyone else is interested, I called Rope-Tek today. They do not seem to have any active plans for a production run. Apparently, their machinist is battling cancer and so production is sort of in a holding pattern.

    Sticht Hitch

@Brocky, thanks for the reply with details. I am really interested in playing with this. Do you have any recommendations about ring sizing and cord pairing to start with? I think I have a bit of 8mm HRC to play with, but I would need to buy the rings as I have nothing on hand that isn't already...
