Today....

Finished one section of 8 hazard trees in the HOA greenbelt. More declining alders to go, including one with ganoderma.

Tomorrow I'll prep to either V-hang or triangulate over (3) large, several years dead, hard-leaning alders smongst taller firs and a very tall alder. Slow-tapering second- growth forest trees from the 70s or 80s.
More HOA greenbelt work.

If the angles are bad, I could get a crane as a climbingTIP, but it's +/- 120' radius.

Had some crazy wind events in the last couple days. The calls, all for failed stems on sugar maples. The last two were almost identical pictures. Codom stems with lots of included bark. One fell on the house with minimal damage. I was able to clean that up in a couple hours. The other will take a bit of effort. And removal of the remainder. The second and larger tree had ehs cable installed about two years ago. Company used rig guys as cable terminations. It pulled right out of the tree like they weren’t even there. I normally only use line preformed grips and have never used the rig guys. They seem simple enough but is it possible they were installed poorly? I’ll take some pictures tomorrow when I’m at the job. here are the two separate codom trees.

Same live red alder as the Coos Bay, lower down, previously probed with a hand saw.

Looking from 90'ish across at a bark-falling-off alder. I used a telescopic pole saw to hook and break out some of the top, clearing a path for some Captain Hook practice, aka failure, before a couple throwline shots to get collar shot high in a fir, about 40' horizontally with my throw line.

The uploader is working as much as it's not working.

After hanging between the firs for the tops and initial chunks, I lanyard in to 2 heavy zip- ties as a breakaway.

The trunk wood only let out one 'pop' that she could hear on the ground.

I could feel each of them in my spurs and hear some. 20260618_173850.webp20260618_173858.webp20260618_173838.webp

Somewhere, there is a thread that explains how. Basically, at least on my phone, it seems like one has to use the "mountain and sun" button at the top of the post box, and insert photos one at a time. Usually if you insert photos that are landscape orientation, they post the right direction, but I'm not sure that works every time either. It would be nice if the forum crew could figure out how to make it work properly.
