New Makita Top Handle

I like Makita, I have a Makita drill which is much lighter than most if not all battery drills, just bring spare batteries. Plus it has lasted about 30 years, I inherited it from dad who used it as an aircraft mechanic.
 
I just looked up the xgt but it’s coming in at 15.48 pounds. They have that listed as assembled weight, I can’t say if that’s the actual weight but that’s awefully heavy for a top handle.
 
That would be disappointing! I compare everything to my 7lbs echo 2500 T. Only downside is the batteries are finicky in the winter. I was hoping this new Makita would be close to that weight with more power, and Makita’s don’t seem struggle in the cold.

Yep, especially with the 1/4" b/c.
 
I think Perry Trees has been running the new model for a little while now if anyone’s curious on its performance
 
I really like the Makita 18V too handle - especially with that little Panther bar you gave me @macrocarpa

Unfortunately the batteries just don't last so it get really expensive...or maybe it's the chargers? One quit charging. Told me all the batteries were bad. I bought a new charger and that started doing the same...not long after.

I haven't had a problem with Makita batteries so far. Maybe yours were getting a lot more use though. I've been super impressed with the echo 2500t and echo dpas 2600 multi attachment tool most of all since buying battery tools.

Here's the weights. I just realized one is the 40v battery platform and the other is the old 18v battery platform. I wonder what improvements this 18V saw is over the previous 18V model.

The Makita UC031G 40V Max XGT Chainsaw has a total operating weight of 3.0 kg to 3.8 kg (6.6 lbs to 8.4 lbs) with the battery installed, depending on which specific XGT battery capacity you use.

The Makita DUC258 LXT top-handle chainsaw has a total weight with battery ranging from 2.6 kg to 3.0 kg (approx. 5.7 lbs to 6.6 lbs), depending on the specific size of the 18V LXT battery attached. Its bare tool (skin) weight without a battery is 1.8 kg (4.0 lbs).

Where do you store yours? I've wondered if cold storage at the the unheated shop caused problems?
