    Break Away Lanyard Question

I guess you could modify a break-a-way chainsaw lanyard. Or use a quick release water rescue belt http://www.rescuedirect.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=N42124&Category_Code=ONSALE How about a stronger version of these...

    X-rigging rings

I'm just catching up on some posts...... Before you instruct your next rescue class you may want to check your history. The first use of single rope technique with prusik and mechanical rope ascenders can be traced back to the exploration of the Dent de Crolles cave system in 1934. American...

    half hitching chains

I'd tend to agree with SRTsteve860. Although I'm no crane expert, this thread got me thinking.... and reading. You're right, there is not much info on this. Probably because they use adjustable legs or shortening hooks/clutches when rigging with chain to shorten the length.

Photo Bombed by the other guys.

You can't do/win them all :) You have a good attitude. I'm sure that's reflected with you're dealings with you're customers. It should serve you well.(y)

    twisted cable

Yup Even if you win, you'll loose the money you'll have to spend defending yourself. It shouldn't have to cost ya to be a "nice guy", but unfortunately that is the way our society is going.

    Big Shot sighting system

I checked out getting a patent once on an item I came up with (not tree related) and was told that that it would cost me around $5,000 to do so. I was also advised not to waste my money due to the small market and the expected profit that could be made off the item. Protecting your patent can be...

    2014 Picture of the Year

Wow, sorry, but I missed your post. Looks that way, but I'm actually a little below (almost level) my tip redirect through the crotch. The top of this tree was quite brittle and we bombed most of it on the ground. The one limb I'm climbing on had to get rigged down because it was over some wires...

I believe that the idea of having a floating tie in would be that as you moved about the canopy, your anchor point would be directly (or as close to) above you. Less of a swing should something go wrong. The high line was just there as a safety so he wasn't really using it to pivot off of...

what's in your rigging bags?! Show em up !

I've done my share, and still do manual carrying. We all do whatever it takes :) I like to see the phases as: 1: Leaving it where it falls. 2: Manually removing it by hand. 3: Moving it by cart/dolly. 4: Skidsteer or other motorized equipment. 5. Crane. 6. Helicoptor. 7. Laser/Phaser. (I don't...

    Remote TIP

Yes it did. It had some hollow sections at the union and it was a little out of his comfort level. He came up with this idea. I was doing a couple of other trees and had the camera with me.

    sherrill tree catalog artist

Very nice Tom. Bryan definately captures the "essance" of tree work and workers in his drawings. I believe his illustrations in the Sherrill catelogs were one of the main forces of their early success. I had a local graphic artist, who is an excellet illustrator do some artwork for me. Its...
