Big Shot sighting system

Used a magnetic base, and can be easily reinforced with a velcro strap

stronger magnet would be adequate. the weaker magnet will pop off with vibration of shot

sure you can line up a shot easily without a sight, but I find it nice to be able to narrow down the exact placement before letting go. much less ricochet and missed shots thats for sure

novice users can easily gauge their first shots , without having to learn where its gonna go

its really cool to see the slight motion of the entire arch of beanbag and line in the sight. it really emphasizes on the arch, having it sighted like this

i thought I should go smaller, cuz a huge sight could line up any target! but its just the right size to show the slight arch of the shot

So I have been following some Big Shot threads lately and I kinda came up with an idea for developing an idea for a removable and adjustable mechanical sighting system. I know this site is full of us creative types and one or two professional critics so I am curious as to what you guys think. My concept is an adjustable peep sight similar to the quadrant sight on a M203 grenade launcher. Im not going the laser sight concept so every one can throw that out the window.

Has anyone seen or heard of anything like this? Im looking in to patenting the idea and coming up with a working prototype. I guess the big question would be how do I go about marketing my new piece of tree gear?
I understand that there are pros and cons to this but the bottom line is that If I can get enough people to attaching these things to their BS's I could hopefully buy a new bucket truck. Hey what can I say? Gettin old sucks and I dont have much of a retirement plan.
I checked out getting a patent once on an item I came up with (not tree related) and was told that that it would cost me around $5,000 to do so. I was also advised not to waste my money due to the small market and the expected profit that could be made off the item. Protecting your patent can be difficult and costly.
I would have liked a sight gauge/laser when I was new to using the BS, but have since become fairly accurate due to experience. Then again, I didn't have a lot of extra $ when I got my BS, so I wouldn't have bought one unless they were not too expensive......... Unless it was shiny:)

Yep, patents are expensive.
I have my BS pretty well dialed. Technique varies some depending on if I'm going 80' to 110' and above 110 to 200'.
What I have found is that with ALL the variables that come into play, (weight used, line used, angle of shot, how far you are pulling back, wind, lob, descent of your weight or path after the crotch etc etc etc etc) NOTHING CAN FIGURE IT OUT LIKE YOUR BRIAN AND EYES. It would be like trying to figure a mechanical system for catching a high fly in baseball or putting sights on your golf clubs.
What is important is; keep the horns down but use the extension of the bands to sight your target, let your eyes and brain figure out the adjustments. After a bunch of shots, it is amazing at how accurate you can become.
I'm on a trip in Costa Rica right now and the last few days were spent setting lines in white oaks 170feet tall covered in moss, vines and epiphytes. Most initial accent tie in points were around 150 feet.

I love all the sighting techniques all though I don't use any. I put the pole on the ground pull the pouch down while kneeling eye up the target and adjust the pull and pole angle, double check the target and let it rip. I guess all those years of instinctive archery shooting did more than I thought.

No doubt that helps the brain trust the eyes . I love recurve shooting I have a browning wasp . Next I'm gonna take a limb off an Osage orange and make my own. If I ever find the time.
