Man. That thread that savage pp linked made my stomach turn. I didn't make it to page 2.
Why is possessing a tool that gives you greater ability to handle an extreme situation when it arises such a strange concept to arborists?
I would like to point out that climbers in particular have an...
Off the top of my head, I was thinking redirect the stock rope just above the casualty and set a new line for them as the same time so that I only have the one quick hop up to the rescue.
They seem to like using the dummy's lanyard at most of them.
Yes, it is. There is very little need to around here, though. We have a company that specializes in planting and relocating trees that is fairly local. I believe that is about all of the demand that we have. I have probably planted less than 50, and that is including a few before I was in the...
Man, what I am reading is definitely a little more trouble than a marl but it could still keep your bowline tight enough to not move during free fall, still adds friction before the bowline to increase the load required to fail there, and eliminates a weak point.
It might add the 10-15%...
That's what I was thinking. My 192 was around $275 almost 10 years ago, and the 193 was barely over $300.
Which dealer you go to matters a lot. I don't know how their prices are determined, but prices vary by about 10% in our metro area.
I probably vary from around 5% to 50% depending on the tree and what we are doing.
I don't ever 1-hand the 201. I basically dropped the habit entirely over the last year and then the 2511 came into my life. I'm not blaming the saw, but I can now comfortably do all kinds of things that I used...
And if you dial it in and like it, maybe invest in something that won't rub through and UV degrade as quickly as those cheap straps. I have no doubt that they will hold the climber on your foot if set well, but I am not making any promises about longevity. Don't die.
I posted some pictures of some Frankenstein bucks that I welded heavy washers to... I don't remember where but I don't have them handy. You need to run through the ring that the straps hang from and both of the rings beside the point are a terminal end. I used a little cam strap, but I think a...
I had that feeling when I got my $550 DMM geckos. I wrap the shank and it helps some.
Use a tiny ratchet strap and attach it to those baller holes on either side of the spur. You should have less movement with less tension.
I get it. If you're paying someone $30+ an hour and any of that is lounge time, then they're messing up. Nobody is worth much without getting work done.
I don't quite make that at my regular gig, but I make a bit more when I'm floating. Usually the companies have something more important for me...
There is something to be said for not bidding work that you can't perform.
The biggest part of being a top-level climber is being a top-level tree worker. The climb is just the commute, and somebody has to ride that lift.
Those numbers are a little low for a "celebrity" climber... unless you...
