Sherrill's PI splice

Re: Sherrill\'s PI splice

Tobe now I feel really dumb...please understand I didnt just do it to get a free rope...(i actually loved that rope...really starting to wear in very nice and was upset to see it go) thats not the kind of person I am...I just saw the white at the top of the splice and posted on here...could it get worse? that I dont know so I thought I would see if it would help and send it in to you guys...again I am sorry

Re: Sherrill\'s PI splice

As before Casey, no worries. I predict someone will soon pm me about your discard as a spare line for a worthy cause or something anyway.

The bottom splice in the second pic illustrates (perhaps only to splicers) how very difficult this splice can be to "drive home." The bunching of the jacket is actually cover strands lining up to swallow a lot of core and cover. Most splicers will employ a rubber hammer in the final stage of this process to help "fau gras the goose" so to speak.

Casey, we genuinely appreciate your business and look forward to hearing from you again.

Sincerely,

T

Banjo, it does look a bit odd, however, you dont know the ropes history, could have been used with a ropeman in the crazy adjustable setup, that would put a ding in it for sure.

Re: Sherrill\'s PI splice

hey Tree, at least your mind is at ease now, no second guessing the splices integrity, as far as i can tell tobe didn't mind too much.

all is peaceful again in the land of tree

Re: Sherrill\'s PI splice

I hope I'm not picking at an old scab here...

Just wondering if there was a final outcome on this thread re the PI splice. I'm due a new rope and was planning on a spliced PI. Is there something to be concerned with or no? Many spliced PI users out there? Was Banjo's problem unique?

Thanks lots.

There was no mention about whether or not they were spliced to manufacturer specs. That's what I meant.

Re: Sherrill\'s PI splice

Maybe it will be the BEST splice around for awhile...

This would be the best case scenario. I have no doubt they are plenty safe. I'm just interested in the details. If it's the rope you want, buy it, if you have a problem, send it back, they'll hook you up.
