My brand new ISC swivel snap gate will stick open on occasion. It's because the first action can slide underneath the second and jam.

Those isc snaps both double and triple have been plagued with problems. Just use a binerand keep up with the graphite lube.

I never had it happen with my double locking snap. It had thicker metal where it needed to.

This is an old photo. The rope and tails have since been swapped out a few times ... but the configuration has remained exact. I made two of these, from a pic of a pre-made one in the Sherrill catalog 15yrs ago.

Always 16 strand 1/2" for the 18' part.

Various prusik tails with factory eyes throughout the years. Ultra Tech, Ocean... Presently I'm using Tenex.

Steel lobster claw on working end because it throws beautifully and can take the abuse of 'missing'. If I have to make a vry far toss I'll add a throwbag on the claw. I've owned 2 of these things for so long I can't remember who makes it. It's only pinched me a couple times in 25 yrs. It fits thru the holes in my dual attachment pulley, which is how I connect to my rope bridge. The fat alum snap I have does not fit. It wedges in and I don't need that xtra stress. (both figuratively and literally)

An old single locking DMM biner on the running end, because in close, fatiguing situations I so appreciate the ease of just being able to twist and open. It can be vry difficult to get the correct grip or angle to operate an autobloc if I'm squeezed in a tight spot. Even clipping on/off my saddle is a pleasure. At that time I had a metal wire trap, but I had to cut that off when I replaced the prusik. Now I use a rubber trap. Not as good.

Self tending pulley, held with a screw link, kept from wandering nowadays with zip ties.

The way you 'taped' or banded down the excess on your claw... is that easily removable? Cause there's LOTS of times where I need to untie the rope from my snap, otherwise if I tried to pull it thru a narrow crotch far away from me, I'd B fk'd. I do that kind of securing for my split tail, and all my false crotches made from Lg & small alum rings, w/8mm line.

The reason Y i switched from the alum claw U have there to a steel claw is because I love the 2-eared pulley to connect to my rope bridge, but the alum claw is too thick and it jams in the attachment holes. This is the newer version of the CMI 2 attachment pulley, which I had my friend bore in his machine shop. The way they make it now, the holes R too small to connect anything useful. I still have my old green & gold one with the factory holes made this size.
