New Urban Tree Care reality show on Nat Geo

[ QUOTE ]
Tune in and quit being a bunch of fuddy duddities.

Yeah, maybe I should just do that tomorrow night and check it out, knowing that a lot of it is just staged for TV ratings.

I just hope and pray (but REALLY I know better)that the general public doesn't think that this is how our industry really is, but like others have already said, generally people who watch TV reality shows can lack a lot of common sense.

Also, like X, I'm kind of fed up with Nat Geo, which used to be one of my favorite channels to watch...when I bothered to watch TV.

I watched two episodes now too. It was horrible. Literally every minutes there was something that I hated seeing. Most of my disgust was the how unreal it all was,...

[/ QUOTE ]But what do they call the unreal: "Reality TV". Positively Orwellian.

Okay just saw my first and last episode of Big Bad Wood. I am just a rec climber and part time tree hacker on my own property, but that show had me yelling at the tv.

Watching my first episode now....10 minutes in...this is bullsheet. How long till peter from TCIA gets involved????? Again. what a bunch of crap. Here is rookie day! On fricking television...and we wonder why OSHA is involved...what crap and all companies; including tree tech should be ASShamed. They were made to look dumb. Didnt know if he was still level? Really? Hope all got a pay day to run into the winter...cuz you looked very unprofessional. Just my opinion.

Edited to add; do you think that "Killing Kennedy" will be better?

Watching too. Tree Tech looks like a good company. It's pretty obvious a lot of this is set up. The rigging point snapping over the dirt road. The frayed sling...

Finally someone that knows what they are talking about. The craner over the mansion is a high level removal. Schit is staged for drama. Everyone flips a marginal pick sometime and I have been doing crane removals longer than anyone on any forum. Long reach...have to attach at a solid choke spot...have to cut high enough to keep the piece on chart...it flips, you're ready for it...so what.

IMO from many years and posts on forums most posters eventually assume they are as good a treeman (woman) as the best poster on the forum (what a joke). People do crane jobs a couple of times a year and they are the expert (village expert lol). I do atleast 2 a week (much more laid back than a every day crane crew). I did 2 huge climb craners 2 days ago across 2 yards and over a building.

A daily city crane crew is the most stressful job in the biz. Couple that with actually running the whole show top to bottom and it is conceivable how someone could forget if they are attached like Cameron. I would not suggest such a thing on a thread that Mrs. Lyons might read.

These guys know what they are doing (on all these crews), take it from someone that knows what they are doing...for 43 years now. You guys worship a guy that hasn't started a saw in 20 years...go figure. I bet even the dunce (Ted), given that he can footlock, is a decent arb. I bet Goat is one of the best on the show.

This show is hugely better than Nosak. Enjoy it for what it is. I have a feeling the public is.

Wonder if Andy Felix, owner of Tree Tech, something like 25 chippers and chip trucks, 15 bucket trucks and 4 cranes, is the son of the late Bob Felix, former czar of the National Arborist Association currently known as TCIA? I enjoy this show and it seems a microcosm of tree companies across the country but just showing the tree removal aspect. They are all flying trade org stickers and banners so they obviously do tree care procedures.

Just saw my first episode last night... (chasing chickens)
Nothing too staged, but then again nothing much happened.
Fairly boring actually... don't see the appeal to the general public.. they'll be lucky to make a second season...

Did anyone else meet Nosak at Expo? Hard to miss, with his name in red on a white t-shirt.

I didn't ask, but he couldn't wait to tell me exactly how his critics were hypocrites because they muck up as bad as his crew did on tv.

Sticking to his guns, no matter what.

Finally saw a few episodes at a friend's place.

It's pretty poor. Mostly if not completely staged. Tree Tech aside, did the other guys agree to have themselves and their companies portrayed as semi competent boobs? Or do they think this is decent tree work?

Or maybe they don't care. Seems like people will whore themselves out for celebrity status. These days no talent is needed. Being a complete asz will keep you in the media spotlight better than talent or honour. Just go ask Rob Ford.

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

With the lib state of affairs such that it is these days, wonder why they weren't forced to have a woman on a crew?

Wonder if there is actually one woman anywhere that day to day every day goes out and does removals all the time on a crew? I doubt it. I have never seen one and I been around looooong time.

Where to start?

I guess I'll start by hoping that you are being facetious, but then I remember that you are a bitter old white guy who hates Obama. I sincerely hope that the rest of your days are spent clinging to your guns (which aren't going to be taken away), and hating the fact that Hillary got elected after the black guy.

Horror of horrors: a woman in the white house?

You know how I can tell you have been around a loooooong time?

Your views are straight from the late 1950s.

You are dismissed.

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

Easy Blowem...went off all political on me! Forgot to answer the question about a single woman on a daily urban td crew in his dumbacrat tirade...Hillary/Billary?...no chance since not protecting those people in Benghazi (her job), not intervening in their murders (her duty), and then lying and covering the whole mess up and getting pinched for it (her character), with your hero, the worst president in history, BO...(want to explain why he is a "black" guy?)

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

My best helper is a woman. Ten yrs in Landscaping and now three days a week removing trees with me. She'll give any guy a run for his money on most days. Honestly, I have interviewed several women since she has turned out to be such a good worker.

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

I am talking about a go to climber that everyone waits on the ground for to figure out and do the td on an every day salty urban td crew. Thousands of them across the country. Is one 1, a woman?

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

TreeVet,

Your attitudes about women are really awful to say the least. I expect that you stop expressing them here. They won't be tolerated.

this isn't a political issue, it's about respect for another person.

Is your life so isolated that just because your reality doesn't include women on a crew that this is the world reality?

Have you been to a comp and seen women climbers?
