New Urban Tree Care reality show on Nat Geo

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

And comps are nothing like real tree work, especially removal work.

I beg to differ, it's what we got to measure the best of the best.

And FWIW, I hate negative blocking.

I still like the idea of a co-ed comp but hey, that's just me.

FWIW I also dislike negative blocking, and carrying a heavy saw on my saddle, and spending hours on spurs. That "novelty" wore off many years ago. Go figure.

I have no problem with women working in our industry, run with it ladies!

Something has bothered me though, if equality is so important, why separate the men from the women for the tree climbing comps?

Throw everyone together and see what happens!

What?!
No opinions on this?!

[/ QUOTE ]

I actually have an opinion, but not enough time to type a clear and understandable response. Maybe later. maybe in another thread.

Holy. Mother. Of. God.

I stopped checking this thread after page 2. I just read from page four on...Wow. That was an epic display of white american hetero maleness. I am bummed I missed all that action. Mike Dunn with the Dbag comment, HOMERUN! that had me rolling on the kitchen floor.

Nora You rock, TreeVet is a dinosaur, don't sweat it.

I know another quite kicka$$ lady climber rite here on the buzz. Ladybird is far and away the most competent coworker I have ever had.

Over my career ive never worked with a women. The industry has become so mechanized that physical strength has become less of an issue even though there are some really strong woman out there. What has been and always will be an issue is teamwork, communication, technique, perseverance, and intelligence. Women excel in all those areas. Good help is hard to find why exclude a large group of people. If they can push out kids they can do treework.

Ive worked on both coasts in mostly forestry related career paths. I think its more a cultural things that men think women can't hang in the field. On the west coast it was much more common. I worked alongside women on Hotshot crews and they can definitely hang. Tree work is the easiest job I've ever had compared to those days.

Is it just me or is it obvious to others when some people on here create a second account here to back themselves up?

[/ QUOTE ]

I can't stand when people do that, for whatever reason. And it's usually obvious.

I've been outworked in treeplanting by females. Different body design. Lower center of mass. I got skinny short legs and the upper body of a beer drinking greek god (mmhm). Seems to be perfect for removal work. Negative blocking is part of what I do, I like it as much as any of the rest of it. I like it all as long as it's outside and physical. Payed to play.

I'm going to create a TimberJack alter ego as my second treebuzz account to argue with myself, and make me feel incompetent as an arborist.

Don Lee Nam is a friend of mine...real flesh and blood...but...an alter ego! He called me a couple of days ago...thanks for the reminder to call him back.

Since he's never been up to mischief he stays ;)
