New Urban Tree Care reality show on Nat Geo

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

[ QUOTE ]
With the lib state of affairs such that it is these days, wonder why they weren't forced to have a woman on a crew?

Wonder if there is actually one woman anywhere that day to day every day goes out and does removals all the time on a crew? I doubt it. I have never seen one and I been around looooong time.

[/ QUOTE ]

What's the deal with ragging on women? So there's few doing takedowns. So what? Where is this sentiment coming from? This thread is about a Sh!tty reality show. Then you go inject this women can't keep up crap.
Check yer head!

Easy Blowem...went off all political on me! Forgot to answer the question about a single woman on a daily urban td crew in his dumbacrat tirade...Hillary/Billary?...no chance since not protecting those people in Benghazi (her job), not intervening in their murders (her duty), and then lying and covering the whole mess up and getting pinched for it (her character), with your hero, the worst president in history, BO...(want to explain why he is a "black" guy?)

[/ QUOTE ]

Your question was idiotic, not worthy of a response.

Lol to all the other stuff you wrote. You seem like a perfectly reasonable basketcase.

Good one with Easy Blowem. I see what you did there, pops.

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

His is a rant heard in many male dominated professions and trades decades ago. Now there are plenty of women in them doing all facets. The fact that he had to narrow it down to a very specialized type of crew (exclusively take down) shows that there is some progress but, it does demonstrate how far behind our industry is relative to the others.

Give it time...

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

Her name is April N. Lives in Delaware. Worked for me for a year and a half. Had a CDL, ISA cert, pesticide license and the respect of the entire office. All 4 foot 11 of her. I would have her on my team again. Too bad the drive was too far. She rocked! I talked crap about females in this industry until I met her. She opened my eyes. Is what it is fellas!

TreeVet,

Your attitudes about women are really awful to say the least. I expect that you stop expressing them here. They won't be tolerated.

this isn't a political issue, it's about respect for another person.

Is your life so isolated that just because your reality doesn't include women on a crew that this is the world reality?

Have you been to a comp and seen women climbers?

[/ QUOTE ]

ooooooo George Hayduke threatens to censor the ole treevet lol

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

Hayduke had nothing to do with misogynistic posts. That was about going undercover to be able to be part of a conversation. Not to disrupt and be abusive. Study history more carefully.

You need to understand the difference between censor and editing.

This is Mark's and my house. We allow a pretty wide range of commentary. We will NOT tolerate abuse.

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

treevet is pissed off again and right now it's un-named women getting his whities in a twist.

He considers me to be a liar and a fraud and he doesn't even know who I am.

I'll tell you who I am. I'm an older female climber that can do a better job in the tree than what I've seen on Big Bad Wood so far.

I can do pretty much any job that is done in tree work except maybe some negative block rigging on huge spars. And that's only because I really haven't done it on really large trees yet.

And you know what else? I'm not even all that much. I know women who are far better climbers than I. They are out there. Marilou,Josephine Hedger, the west coast girls, just to mention the ones I know.

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

Id give my left #ut to have my mom back on the ground with me...i grew up working with her and she helped mold me into the worker i am today. She could run a rope and make the dumbest poor planned cut look good and the yards were spotless after cleanup...lowering device and rake were her babies. Shed would fire half the guys i work with nowadays because of sawdust. I love my mom and she worked her arse off in a "male" dominated line of work...then showered and went to work as a waitress at a fine dining restaurant. Now she's "retired". She earned it. Her and that lowering device bought our first "hydraulic boom truck".

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

Need more people like your Mom in the world. It would be a better place for sure.
Happy Thanksgiving! Lets be thankful for everyone that made us the Arborists we are today and move on. Life is too short. Hug someone you love and be happy they walk the earth with you cause the clock is ticking.

Abuse huh?...Really?...Abuse?...really? How, why, to who? Guy makes a truthful obviously irrefutable statement and you, in your role as...forum owner, moderator, censor, ...homeowner?...chastise a perfectly legitimate post/poster and threaten to censor his thoughts.

Maybe you are jealous of this show which is talked about by many people I run across and your forum is not the center of the tree universe right now. Esp. since the only wood cutting you do anymore is with a pencil in your basement office, in your electric pencil sharpener running this empire?

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

The lack of women in the industry is directly related to the attitudes of people like you, TreeVet, who believe that perception is reality and thus becomes self-fulfilling. Would you give a woman a chance if she were applying for a job with your company? Would you be biased? Based on your previous posts, I'd have to say no and yes, respectively. That's the problem. As an employer, I am proud to say that I have and will continue to employ qualified women. I consider it an obligation to the industry. I also support causes such as the Women's Tree Climbing Workshop www.newenglandisa.org/workshops_WTCW5.html because I believe that they will help break the barriers that exist for women in our industry. Open your eyes man, there's a bigger picture.

Wow you are a giant douche. Good luck with that.

That actually sums it up quite nicely. The hate is strong with that one, spiced with bigotry and FOX news talking points. Enough to give anyone heartburn.

To have the perception that an Arborist's only worth comes from removing trees must be tough (not that he can self-reflect).

Happy Black Friday everyone! I'm going out to climb a tree with my boy and have some fun.

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

Not gonna jump on the chew toy bandwagon here, Treevet, (you are an a-hole, imo), other than to mention that I posted on AS last year about a girl (co-op) student who helped me part time. A positive experience working with this individual, who gave her all; no whining, full PPE, and perhaps most of all: she wanted to learn. Attitude and intelligence matter a lot more to me than physical strength in an employee. Years ago, another acquaintance helping me on a job wanted to climb (1st time) so she tried my saddle and spurs to go up and install a pull line. Gaffs kicked out, and she took a bit of a slide. She later showed my wife the abrasions. Tough girl, she hardly let out a yelp. She also worked harder than anyone else, but that is how she was raised. Almost like someone in the mold of Hank or Henry Stamper in "Sometimes a Great a Notion".

Re:Urban Tr Care reality/myth show on Nat Geo

It is quite amazing to see the "venom" over one tree guy's opinion about women in tree work. Sure, there are a few women here and there than can handle the day to day rigors of tree work, but as a whole they cannot! When did we start basing all of our "facts" on the exception and not the rule! If you have had a good experience with a women/female groundy or climber then good for you! It doesn't though, make us "all men" crews evil, backward, or bigoted. I too had a good experience with a women (albeit I use the term loosly as I don't think she even viewed herself as one) as a "groundperson", but as a whole I would much prefer working with other men and find them generally more capable in our field.
