Mini Skids

I've been planning on getting an avant 420 or the gehl 140 in the spring; depending on what is going on with the 140. Anyway, I've noticed, maybe I'm wrong, that dealers are having a hard time getting rid of avant 528's. I'm thinking real hard about grabbing one. Any reasons why I shouldn't would be appreciated.

Hopefully the 140 will make a comeback. Regarding the 420 and 528's... I haven't noticed either sticking around for very long. Last year we were the top Avant and 140 seller in the country... not sure about the 340 and 540.

One option I definitely would want is the 6 function joystick which puts the auxiliary controls on the joystick; that's very handy running a grapple. The 600 and 700 series have an 8 function joystick standard which has the boom's telescoping and the auxiliary functions on the joystick. The Gehls come standard with a 6 function joystick as well as forward/neutral/reverse switch. The 300 and 500 series also have a button to select high/low range and differential locks.

Where are you located, Coen? I'd love to help if possible.

Northern MI. Right now I'm in discussions with someone on a 528. I'm going to see it this coming week. I want to wait till spring, but I have a feeling I will like it so much that I won't want to wait that long.

Yeah, ok. I met you in Hartford. If you remember, I'm the one that said to you; "So your the guy from Mississippi who made all the you tube videos on Gehls?"

Hartford 2014 was the first time I had quite a few people coming up because they recognized my logo from the videos. I believe you were one of the first, if memory doesn't fail.

I may get a 420 down here to shoot some videos with. Walk arounds as well as working video.

That things is SWEET!! How are the controls on the ditch witch? Wonder what the price tag will be

Had some fun with my Vermeer 650tx today...pushing a 2,700 log (rough dimension of 24"x23' Tulip poplar). I was pushing around some others too, but I think this was the heaviest.

Got my BMG a week ago and have been using it. Just in time because we have had LOTS of storm damaged trees due to heavy, wet snow. IMG_0393.webp

This is a 4 day job for us, so I will post some after shots as well. Really diggin this grapple. I have a small 10 yard truck. We filled it to the brim, four times today, and we were not even pushing it. Tomorrow we will probably do 6 truck loads. as we will not be doing so much clean-up of fallen limbs. Straight removals tomorrow. I am just so amazed at how production has increased.

You should check your hose routing Royce.

I have them come from the machine, up the vertical boom arm, criss cross under the horizontal boom in the little triangle then go straight to the cylinder. It keeps the hoses longer for more rotation and gives them something of a positive return to center. Hope that helps.
