We'd better be, or we can continue to ignore the history of government overthrow.

I've been reading a lot about how malleable, blind, and illogical human brains can become under the right influences, so I'm no longer hopeful for our future. A recent meeting of my homeowners' association (with about half trump supporters) showed me how prevalent group-lying has become. These people are shameless. I'm glad I'm old.

In the last few weeks Donny has given away almost all of the $450 million that he inherited and stole/or from daddy dearest...

To quote Jonathan Turley, “The court may find almost half a billion dollars in damages without a single lost dollar from a victim to be a tad excessive.”

This will be appealed. Most likely to the Supreme Court, as state appeals courts (especially in NY) are likely to defer to the legislature and trial judge.

Banks who dealt with the Trump organization were paid back on time and in full and testified that they would do business with Trump again. So who was the victim? This is lawfare and transparently political persecution. Open and obvious. Third world stuff. Even if you hate Trump this much is clear.

In time the damages will be dramatically reduced.
 
Florida is so desperate to attract people, but savvy investors are selling while they can. Saltwater intrusion into the groundwater is gonna make the state unlivable long before the water levels do. It's a reality that has a lot of locals in denial, but this is a major source of brain drain down there.
 
I’m in Florida right now (vacation). Admittedly never heard of this issue. Based on the opulence of my surroundings I’d guess there’s sufficient tax base and desire to desalinate if necessary.

Surely the man who ran the now infamous Trump University grift would never be involved in falsifying business records, issuing false financial statements, or be up to his ass in conspiracies to commit insurance fraud and falsify business records.

The victim card never gets old though?

My gut tells me y’all should be careful what you wish for. Say you succeed and get Trump locked up and Biden (or whoever replaces him) installed again. It’s very possible you will get someone worse than Trump in 2028. Hard to imagine, but that person is out there.

Using third world lawfare to ruin political opponents is a really bad look. People see it.

I feel like this country’s a simmering cauldron. May not take much more to put it at a boil.

And I only wear Pumas. ;)

Of course its possible.

But..electing rump would continue the decline from the way MAGApublicans function. That's a sure thing, not a possibility to risk

Electing Biden is just the same as wearing PPE and following current safe practices in arborculture. Still a dangerous theater but with good risk management in place.

Electing ANY of the MAGApublicans would be like doing treework in flip-flops, cut off shorts, no fall protection/work positioning nor one piece of PPE. Sure death or crippling injuries sooner rather than later.

I'll go with the sure thing...PPE and current safe practice sensibilities.

The victims are all the people who play fair; same as if any other turd committed the crimes with the same outcome. Like, why shouldn't I be allowed to lie about the value of my assets to get loans? I have a great business plan, and one with which I feel quite certain I could repay the loan I would want. rump declared bankruptcy many times and left plenty of other investors and workers high and dry. We all deserve to be treated as well as he was, or nobody does. That's how laws work.
