I suppose my only take on that is that every country on earth has borders that were established as the result of conflict at some point. As long as people have existed they have fought over land. This will never change. In fact it will get worse as populations grow and farmland becomes more scarce and valuable.

Worth noting that Native tribes were no different They fought for hundreds of years over buffalo, water, land in general. Just like the rest of humanity.

Not to be outdone by Obama Trump is now promising to deport millions if he is reelected and says he will takes us back to the good old days when our government deployed practices like operation wetback. Knew this was coming.... Now the Duck is asking for contributions to pay his fine in the New York Civil trial. 350 million, and it hasn't even been decided yet. Think he would give the money back if the fine is less? Think he is going to spend any of his own money on the fine that was levied at him because of his criminal acts? I don’t want to get into an unwinnable theological discussion…but I suspect the reverse if not truer, is at least as true.

The problem (looking at it from the outside) is that your politicians are financially in the pockets of various groups and businesses, often needing their backing, monetary and using other influences to just get elected, thats where the corruption starts.

Happy to be lectured otherwise.

Edit, the same could be said of UK politicians, but broadly speaking less so.
 
Yep. American society is not morally bankrupt, but those who are pulling the purse strings of our political system certainly are. Removing money from our politics would certainly go a long way towards righting the ship.

My point being, that you could get rid of all these politicians in one fell swoop, and they would be replaced with people equally as bad. Change doesn't start at the level of government, it starts in the home, the family.

Change comes from the top, every society is shaped by its leaders good and bad.
Its all very well saying that it starts at the level of the family, but you can raise any number of good kids, but if all they have to vote for every 4 years is what you guys get on the ballot paper what will change?

Im not sure if you are aware, but down here in Merica we have recently been having our own problem with a budding wannabe dictator who has been doing everything in his power to destroy our constitution, and rule of law. So yea, leaders can be a very big problem, and have a massive impact.
