Leaders shape the society they lead, it’s one of the reasons people want to become leaders, it’s more alluring than all the money in the world which is easier to get with less hassle.

Politicians and judges need to have their sole income being the salary the office dictates and not be allowed any other income while in that office. No money, favors or gifts from interest groups, no book deals, no stock market earnings, no speech payments. Strictly their salary. They then would work for the people who elected them and not for other factions.

Think: Grandmother who lives in Florida, wearing a white cowboy hat with feathers (who has probably never seen a horse in person) and a red, white and blue leather jacket with fringes, carrying a sign that says, "Trump Was Sent By God."
Now picture that brain in every other MAGA person, no matter how old, gender, what they wear or where they live.

Being from there I can fill you in a tad. The pledge is left over from the McCarthy era to fight his suspected communistic conspiracy theories. It is way of date and should have been gone a long time ago. And actually, only about half of the Illinois politicians sign the damn thing. It is optional.I had to find out about this.

As much as I hate Trump and the other Republicans, I would not put too much emphasis on this not signing issue. It was just something for the media to grab onto. They wouldn't have mentioned it had it been someone else.
