Hey all, I have been playing around with this for the last few months and I think there is enough here to release it into the wild. I am calling it Single Carabiner Access Method (SCAM), because it needed a simple name, and the ideas are likely a conglomeration of things I ripped off ;)
As a...
Was watching a video from the Climbing Arborist today and noticed a device I haven't come accross yet, can someone tell me what he is climbing on? Not sure if he is on the buzz.
Slowly pushing my limits when I get the chance, this was about 45 feet up a 70 foot burl oak, lots going on here with my current setup. I am still not sure about the shoulder straps and pulley, but they do keep me vertical so I can let go and chill at any point without hanging from my arms. The...

Now that SRS is becoming so popular with arborists I am wondering if there would be any interest in adding a SRS speed climbing event to some of the competitions? Specifically, I am thinking about an open event where competitors could use any non-motorized SRS method to climb 100 m (or maybe...
Please forgive my ignorance on this one - I've never used a wrench for climbing, though looking to get a climber onto SRT as cheaply, simply as possible (he has kids, no time, money). I'm kinda just curious to know if this would work anyway.
Can this configuration be used with a Wrench?
Maybe...
Started removing slightly bigger (generally single stem) trees recently (when I say bigger, it's nearer 100' compared with 80'). After limbing the trunk as far as the bucket can reach - I climb from the bucket to work on the remaining tops. I've been doing these tops spurless as the boss...
I've been using this system recently to retrieve hardware from their anchor points. It's pretty simple and can be used with a basal or canopy anchor. Is there another way to retrieve more than one hardware redirect?
There's room to improve-if the side of the redirect towards the canopy anchor...
Hi folks,
I'm a Canadian arborist who's taken a bit of a leap and traveled to Australia for some work experience. I feel there is a lot to learn by immersing myself in a different ecosystem and by observing the variety of different approaches to our trade this country has to offer. This goes...
Just wanted to drop a quick line for those who I've met IRL and those who I know frequent this forum. Good to be here! looking forward to contributing to some discussions about all things climbing, trees, and awesome.
over 5 years experience, mostly climbing but a little bit of all phases of...
Here is a blog post explaining some different canopy anchors and the Texas Tug method. This is aimed at beginners and people looking to learn a bit about canopy anchors. Let me know what you think!

Trying to figure out choked wire/steel core flipline solutions led me to some ideas for use with Rope Lanyard/SRT Tie-In. These are just ideas and options - SRT is so new to me so I'm (re)discovering a lot of what most of you may know anyway. SRT is amazing - I seem to get new ideas to try every...

Old big shot tubing would work to.
I used 1/2" tubing and 5/8 rope cover
Easy build with simple seizing
Easy dismantle to repurpose ascender
Speed link and bow shackle to jacket to ascender
Very compact
Happy Sunday
Haha, ya... I don't know if many arborists climb with non-locking biners hanging off their harness but I have like 10,000 non-lockers so I usually bring a bunch into the canopy with me just for hanging stuff off of other stuff when tree camping.
On my last trip I lended (lent?) a bunch of gear...
