Remember the good old days when telephone annoyance was - [ick up a call, say hello, wait and hear silence and just when you're about to hang up a machine which dialled to you switches you to a scripted (scam/telemarketer/survey) operator who wasted your time? After enough calls I developed the response of of saying hello repeatedly with similar length pauses a few times pretending I couldn't hear the telescripter and then hanging up.
