    BUYERS BEWARE!!!

I get texts about tree work that are obviously a scam. But it's harder for me to tell on the internet.

    BUYERS BEWARE!!!

I wonder how a post with feedback about buyers and sellers would work. I see things on here that I would buy if I knew just a little about the seller. Like if someone I knew or respected had good dealings with them. I think that could help weed out the one post scammers. I won't buy anything...

"Safebloc reduces forces on the terminal anchoring point" - is this true?

I'm a little unclear on your exact question I think. The way I look at it you don't lock off anything unless there is no other choice. Then go as small as possible. Assuming the groundman lets the load run properly, a pulley block will almost double the load on the rigging point. A Safebloc...

This estimate is good for 30 days

Yep. My December price isn't the same as my summer price. I have 30 days on my estimates and I point it out to the customer so they understand beforehand.

Do you let customers help with work?

I don't work by the hour. I bid the job on a written contract with the work written down to the tiniest detail. Then the total at the bottom. That way I do the agreed upon work and they pay the agreed upon price. Whether it takes 5 minutes or all day.

    Paid Estimates

A guy I work with who owns his own business is scared to death of loosing a bid. He will do anything to get the job and keep the customer. Even if it means lowering his price and working for almost nothing. He cant stand to loose one. I don't want every job. I used to try to get them all but I...

    Mail-in chain sharpening service

The fire department around here used to use carbide chains. They had to send them off to be sharpened. Not sure where but if you know a fireman they might be able to help.

[rigging] Tree/anchor-point failures.... Hoping to get people's "favorite" vids/etc to show failures of trees while rigging!

You made a call. You lived to tell about it so to me it was the right call. The trees are the only untested parts of our climbing world. Many times we're probably just a few pounds from disaster. That's not a place to be pushing your luck. All it takes it once to change your life. Or end it. I...

Written Contracts - When to use them?

I come from a logging background also. For most customers it doesn't matter if every cut is wrong and dumb luck is all that keeps you from certain death and destruction. Most customers really only care if the cleanup is excellent and their roof and driveway is blown clean and their tree is...

    Buckingham Tree Squeeze

Looks like they could stitch the rope together in a few places and get rid of the bands. I guess that would make it cost more though.
