It's not that it's not a good idea, just unnecessary most of the time. A ring and ring friction saver makes a great canopy anchor though, especially if you use a lot of redirects, something you usually don't do whdn geocaching.
The gasket is present, didn't check the screw tightness.
Yep, my 026 has the old line, and I'm aware of the problem, I actually had that happen to me in a tree, and I thought: "Shit, here we go again..." before noticing the fuel was that low. As far as I'm aware you can't just stick a longer one...
Yep, took it off completely, cleaned it, and throughly checked it. I ordered a replacement anyway, along with a base gasket, a pressure tester, and a full set of seals for the crankcase.
What side would usually be the bad one if the saw shuts off on the clutch side?
I didn't take the bearings out.
The mityvac is pretty expensive over here, I was looking at one by a local online saw parts shop, that one only costs around 40€. It has pretty good reviews too.
I did "adjust" the...
Looking at the intake boot, it looks perfectly ok, so I don't really think that's the issue. I think I am going to buy a pressure tester, to see where the issue is.
Going to revive this thread instead of starting a new one, since it's about the same saw. I'm having trouble getting the saw to run properly, the card adjustment seems to change by itself to the effect of the throttle response lagging. It generally idles very well, as long as the carb stays...
Why do steel biners scare you? Because of the danger they pose to your face?
Can't say what I'll think about it yet, haven't tried it yet. Will be working the next few days, so I won't be able to try it either. I really need to find some more thin stuff to try it on.
Does anyone see a safety concern using knots to try out the concept? I was using this rope in some small trees yesterday, and I kept changing between the steel biner and a quickie for cinching smaller stuff. I was also using my lanyard chinched with a regular biner, using the akimbo as an...
I also don't know what you mean, I've hung off a chest ascender on the old one, didn't find it uncomfortable at all. However, just like @JayDeCoster I spend a lot of time in a rock style harness (but full body, certified for everything), and I usually wear briefs, which keeps everything out of...
I made this to be like a saka, but I wanted to be able to use all the holes easily, which is why it's not sewn tightly. I might add some velcro on the back though, there is quite a bit of slop right now.
Unfortunately the color doesn't look as good as in the pic anymore...
Yes, but no. It'll work, but not very well. It really milks my 16 strand for example. And of course the RE wants you to only use the recommended ropes.
It says in the description of your link that you can reach 100'+ height with a lightweight throw line, not with a climbing line. That would be cool though.
@rico I can see where you're coming from, but I can't remember the last time I used the upper D's on my Treemo. But you won't find me doing any spar work either...
Here's another look at the harness. It does look very good to me. My boss already said he'll be getting it as soon as it comes out. Part of that may be because he's an Edelrid partner and gets a discount on it...
You might want to consider the Edelrid Treecore, it allows you to sit quite upright like a sport or industrial harness, without giving up the sideways mobility of an arborist saddle.
