Can anyone copy/paste the entire article? I saw the story on my browser suggestions yesterday but I don't do NYT (and won't be giving them any money) so I can only read the first paragraph.
We have 880's and 42" bars at the shop if we're going to a real monster job but the 661 is the biggest saws we keep on the trucks for day to day work. I'll regularly fell up to 40"+ with it, typically only grab the real big saws if the work order says >50" DBH (unless your Adrian who keeps a 395...
My back cuts don't always line up perfect but fucking nailed it today. Good thing too cause the customer was videoing. Had to double cut the spar, the 661 w/ 32" bar was >6"short.
80'dead ash, top blew out in last week's storm and took out wires on its way down. Bucketed it down to ~35' spar and...
What chain are ya'll running on your electric husky? Not seeing a lot of options.
.325m "pixie" .043 59drive link.
Is there a compatible full chisle / non safety option?
At the 2:53 mark you completely arrest the fall of a large chunk of wood. Why?
Edit* finished the video and you do it several more times with even larger pieces negative rigged (both standard and DWT). Why are you not letting it run?
I thought this was going to be a thread about your gear addiction...
In all seriousness man good job, sounds like you've proved your worth to your company (hopefully they already knew that, so I should say-sounds like you've once again reaffirmed your worth)!
OK here's my trick:
As @southsoundtree mentions each loop will have an opposite one but it's not necessarily the one next to it. As a simple example it could be twisted like this-
A A B B
Or this-
A B A B
Example 1 there's 2 pairs of twists, one inside the other pair. Example 2 there's 2...
I own 1 75ft hank of the poly / poly and it is good shit!
Poly/nylon has a single yellow strand in the cover braid to differentiate it from the all poly.
Forgot about GAP, they still sell calamine if you like a tad bit of stretch / need EN type A cert. Still very static even at 2.2%, my favorite rope of all time!

I never saw anything where he said what rope it was but I know he often uses 8mm rope for TRT cause both strands fit the OG runner so that's what I thought it was, IDK if 9.3 would fit two strands in the runner. If you saw something where he specified I'm not disputing that but my assumption was...
The bombing on the crane ball from straight up bucket is much less force on the rope than the swing was.
It is all impressive. Scarry to think about the forces but impressive to watch... I do similar crane tie in bombing every now and then when the opportunity presents, wouldn't dare a swing...
I'd you've decided on blue moon I'll suggest you go with @swingdude's above suggestion and grab focus instead.
Idk why vendors (and Yale themselves) continue to claim blue moon = focus / poison ivy cause as much as they insist its the same it isnt... Focus and Ivy however are the same rope just...
He didn't go into specific detail (it seemed like it was an emotional post) but this is what he said- "I created TRT and used it for the crane swing, the shock from the swing was so much that it almost broke the rope showing the core of one of the lines. That's life"

These are mats for equipment to drive on, not to put down to drop wood onto.
LOVE alturnamats, I'll never go back to plywood again. That and chipping brush, fuck that shit!
