For being such a small, responsive (I hate how the wrench behaves, comparatively), non-rope depended (works on most anything), hitch dependent (cross over from typical MRS), tuneable (different hitches or cordage), very robust, and cost-effective. I have a hard time understanding why it isn't...
Swivel rocks for tossing your tail overhead and having the system lay correct still. Rather than having to disconnect and spin the system or flake you tail over again.
I love the HH1 but have been stuck on a ZigZag / Wrench most of the season. The HH runs nicer, but never burning a hitch on the...
Interesting. I long to try a Onyx or MB, one of the few I haven't got to demo. I think they look hot haha. I have a small waist, thick thighs and when I fly regular size saddles the Ds and bridge connectors, sit forward as it appears in your photo. Making life unpleasant. I'd suggest cranking...
This is very helpful, I was just looking at buying on MapleLeaf, but can't decide on what ~12.5mm Kern to buy. I've only climbed a tiny bit on 11mm KM-III, otherwise all Double braid and 16 strand. I hope to have a full 1/2" my hands really lock up on 11mm. But I like the feeling of being on a...
I'm with Erwin 100%. I don't get why climbing pants don't have knee pad options. A good 1/2" of high density foam, to keep my knee cap safe and comfortable. Would be a huge selling point. Even for some ground work it would be nice, to me.
I love these kind of posts, thanks for the ideas everyone. I got to demo an old TM, I loved it. Not even set up I could feel how nice it would fly.
***Warning non TM content***
When things get too busy at one connection point, don't be shy to connect direct to the bridge. Depending on the...
Wrapping my head around this discussion. How I may potently develop it into my climbing craft, should the opportunity ever present it's self. I'm failing to see any major advantages thus far, but I like learning things like this just to learn them.
@John@TreeXP How did he counter weight you...
I'm a machinist too. With the correct materials, structurally engineered and loaded correctly. The cross section for a SWL in our applications is tiny. I get way more freaked out by the fact that we work with tools that can cut a loaded rope with the lightest of touches. Or that every climb I...
I use the ISC fixed. If you have to go out and buy one there are cheap'Os on ebay. It does nothing life support, just tends.
Climbing with out a pulley makes me sad, love that extra fluid tending. Doing pony redirects kinda sucks, having to hold onto the bridge, carabiner, pulley. Then keep the...
Make things idiot proof and they will just make a better idiot.
I had to ask a peer, to NOT use a pole saw around A: my persons B: a basal tied life line.
Then explain to him why, it is not okay to use a tool that cuts wood like butter on a 15' pole. Near people or a climbing system.
We both...
A basal anchor is amazing for 90% of the trees I access. Once at the highest point, have a grounds person untie it. They run what ever system you want. The gains are:
Simple to install. Just bomb the throw line over the highest most central safe point. No need to isolate at all. Pull your line...
It wasn't prefect, but damn close. Opened my eyes to what a arborist work place could be. It is the second time in two industries that I have been so fortunate. Being respectful and painfully honest. Do the work, be eager to learn and take responsibility. Wise bosses that want to build a solid...
