I am not sure what you are talking about having up for content Mark so it's hard to say how much I would pay at the top end. $5 per month is a no brainer for the bottom end.

I already can't believe you provide this site for free. I have gained so much from being here for a year or so and I make more money as a result of that.

Like to see new TV content and Videos? Sure!
If they help me to learn somthing to make more money, be more safe, have more fun, etc. I would pay for that. $15 a month or more? Sure if I see the benifit is there.

And CEU's. Why couldn't that be delivered in some format on video over the web? And how much would that be worth? (A bunch.)

In the tree talk section make another section above general discussion called weekly video tips. Make it larger font and a different color. Have the subtitle say something about watching a brief advertisement to access this weeks tip. Auction off a 1-2 minute video advertisement with the sponsors.

I would imagine the advertisers would bid up the price for a captive audience. If you had good interest you could have a 45 second advertisement to watch the previous weeks episodes. I wouldn't offer more than a few spots a week to keep the bid pressure up and the advertisements from getting annoying.

Has anyone been impressed with the training videos produced by ISA or other training organizations? I haven't seen but a few and was not impressed much. Even your crane video Mark was real basic stuff. I haven't heard anyone speak highly f any other training videos, except maybe Gerry B's stuff. Most of what's out there may be good for Rookies, but not much useful info for the more experienced.. So asking that is like asking "how much to cut down a tree?".. it all depends.. What kind of info are you going to be providing? Tell us more about that...

ps.. NO disrespect intended. Your climbing and rigging course at Rutgers changed my life.

Mark, if you want to go ALL OUT, give live video feed from key people every week. No BS, no editing. I'll take every Tuesday.
Riggs takes Wednesday, August takes Thursday. Ace tree takes friday. Stihlmadd takes monday. EVERY WEEK.

If you won't do it, I will.

Live feed. Real work. Real good or real mistakes. All is shown.

Previous recorded episodes for a small price for those that miss it.

There is so much that could be taught by video. It is just hard to see my way clear to pick up another book and read about it at times. And, re-reading to understand certain sections. Anyone else challenged by reading content?

I have Ed Gilman's $100 pruning book on my night stand but... I have been to two of Gillman's day long classes and I know he wants to get his information out. I am sure he would provide video in some format. (By the way he is doing a free online course spring of 2016 through the University of Florida.)

Then I think of other things to be learned...

This is a cool idea. But you should keep them in a video library posted. Real time live feed would be missed by most people.
I also know with any good video like Oldfart's I watch them over and over before duplicating. I want to know I'm doing it right before I hang something over my guys heads and say trust me.

no offense but charging for content would further drive a wedge between this site and the free media already available on facebook, youtube and the myriad of other social media outlets. I would not be interested in paying.

Who doesn't like free? As mentioned you can find a lot of videos on YouTube and elsewhere. The issues I find with some of them are poor quality whether it be audio or video, bad camera angles, etc.

Not sure what the video content would be but if it was a product for instance the rope wrench. If it included everything you need to know about it.. Safety, attaching and removing, tips and tricks, etc in HD video I'd easily pay $5 a month. You could learn a lot! If the video library was large I'd pay $10.

The big thing in my opinion is why pay for something when you can get it for free. Everyone tries to save a few bucks here and there but if the content was much better and more in depth than what's already found online I'd be willing to pay for that

I didn't explain it well actually. My idea has it going around the world, so in the evening live for us in the US would be Japan, Australia and in early morning Germany and the UK.

THIS IS a very good point. Be careful. I don't use facebook and don't want too. So I hope u can always retain a good audience here.

No doubt! This economy stinks! You would think that with all the DOD money here in Tidewater, VA, that we would be insulated; but I find most of my customers scrutinizing every penny they spend.

That $5/month has to come out of our customers--the end consumer.

My wife has been using a site, PaperbackSwap.com, for 7 years or so. (I highly recommend their service.) They just started in with a new model where they will make a little money for each book you trade with other members, or you can pay a modest fee for the right to unlimited trading and they give you a new feature added to their site. They track how much you have saved by trading books around, $5800 for my wife so far. I am glad to see them start to make some money. I have always valued what they do but, only a thriving business will be there for us to enjoy tomorrow.
