Today....

Did a small job removing a storm damaged limb for a neighbor today on an old but robust ornamental cherry. The limb was a lot heavier than I expected and the break was all the way through which also surprised me since it didn't look that way from the ground. It was looming over his internet line and was only hung up by all the smaller branches caught on the surrounding branches and foliage. I tied it off and pieced it up with the hand saw and Felcos. This guy's back yard is so full of junk and dog poop that my drop zone was tiny and on the far side of his patio furniture which he hadn't moved out of the way. Also my TIP was squirrel nest adjacent and the two main stems grow at about a 50° angle. Once again I have proven that somehow I can't see problems when I'm standing on the ground and every job looks easy until I'm in the tree. He did surprise me by paying, however, and emailed some photos I hadn't known he took of the action.
