Rope Wrench - Hitch/Rope compendium.

Wow. It seems I owe you an apology Brocky. I don't know what could have possible caused me to label you a lunatic? Probably my over consumption of kickass coffee? Anywho, please forgive me. Now carry on with your amazing da Vinci like drawings, flow charts, and mathematical equation! I for one cant wait to see what amazing new ideas come out of that cabeza grande of yours! Keep em' coming mi amigo..

I just ordered another (black) Rope Wrench and a 24" HRC E2E cord... because @rico says that's what I should use, and who am I to argue with a guy who climbs 250' trees just to have sex with baboons? I think a black hitch tender is required. Might have to spray paint a Shizel Rope Slider until Brocky goes into mass production with his tender.

I'm using a 26" Beeline 8mm cord right now... the 24" cord better work, @rico, or I neuter the baboon and wire his jaws shut.

First time ona black rope wrench or first time ona rope wrench?

No, just got the black one to go on a Rig N' Wrench with a black Pinto Rig pulley. For stealth rigging. Like lowering bodies into the canal in the middle of the night.

Now, I'm thinking it would also be real stealth on KM3 Max... I think I have a black DMM oval around here, somewhere. I might want to sneak over that wall into Mexico, or something.

A 24" e2e, a shorty tether and a Michoacán is the bomb! If you dont like it I will reimburse you for the cost of the e2e, you frugal bastard.

Lucky for me a baboon has more than one orifice Mr. Gu!

I just set up the red RW stuff with the 26" Beeline and yeah, I have about an inch on each leg that I don't need, so the 24" one should do the job. Shorty tether and KM3 Max 7/16" rope.

And, I have a tube of 5 minute epoxy and a buttplug for that baboon, too.

Sorry about the fuzzy pic. Looked fine through the viewer and the bottom of my beer glass. No idea what happened.
That setup looks sweet. I dont know if your used to running a 4 wrap Michoacán but it can be a quick slick mutherfucker when loaded with the down legs directly over the pulley hole. I freaking love it that way, but if its too much flip the hitch 180% and it will bite in quicker and better. Once that HRC is broken in a little you should be rocking a seriously high performance setup with almost no setback.. Plus a black Wrench on that black KM is gonna be pure stealthy sexiness!

So I'm not the only person who thought of da Vinci when first seeing those drawings.

Just for giggles, I tried 28" sewn E2E ArbPro 9mm with Michoacan on the Shorty/KM3 Max setup... works very well. More drag on ascent with the larger cord, but tolerable. I have several of these cords, so nice to know I have backups if I smoke an 8mm cord or it starts to rain (I wet the rope/cord and this combo still grabs well).

Did you make a winter sweater for you tether?

You can go shorter with the legs when tying the eyes by replacing the pulley with a plastic 1/2” thimble and a small cord with eyes.

Cut a little off the thimble, like the black one below, to make it easier to slip on the rope midline. The cord can be configured a couple different ways.

What knot or method are you using to form the eyes on the cord that holds the thimble?

The long one is a sliding grapevine with the loops covered, one is spliced using cover only, and the rest are sewn with some having a cover over the stitches. The straps can also be used without the thimble, but there’s less friction with the thimble.

Ya I used dbl fisherman's with NEmaxim tech cord and I cut a little bigger slot in the thimble to help seat the terminations better. I ran that through a section of cover like you and to help hide the tales. Added a little tape to keep it from shifting. Weighs about 28 grams and tends well but still not close enough to a pulley.
Im trying to cut weight wherever I can and when I see brocky always using these light ass tending straps, it makes me have to try. While I'm not totally sold on it, I'm not giving up yet.
For me the straps were too hard to break the hitch on my main line SRT but they were good enough for my lanyards. Adding the thimble is getting pretty close to good but I need to climb with it more still.

It doesn’t work well with a VT hitch. The thimble needs a larger surface area to push against. The Michoacan finish is an example, here is a 3-2 VT with a Michoacan finish.

perhaps post a picture of how you have it set up?
I've only climbed with it using a michaocan so far with the thimble set just like u did there. It was a 5 over 1 with the same 8mm ocean poly cord used for the distel hitch that comes with the hipstar flex CE lanyard. It's not bad and is much better than just the strap without thimble but I've only climbed on it for a few hours yesterday.
