Kevin, that one was made old school out of Aluminum (saw, drill, file). Obviously if they were nade in production they could be cnc machined. If there was enough expected demand to keep cost lower they could also be a zinc die cast or molded from ABS.
 
I think you solved one of the only issues I've noticed with the rope runner. I personally think these should be integrated into the stock device during production. Plus it gives it a badass look
 
If adhesives become an issue then I'm sure they could be attached with small flatheads from the inside if you allowed 2 small holes in your product process. Otherwise with a template they could also be drilled and use barrel nuts on the inside (think spur height adjustment)
