Petzl Sequoia.....

Not much padding on my T.M. saddle. I am getting some discomfort on my hib bone.

I see lots of padding on the Petzl saddle. I just might have to try that.

Newguy18, it's not available yet. It'll be a couple months still.

I've climbed on petzl rock climbing harnesses and they look similar padding wise. The rock harnesses don't barely have any padding. I wonder if this new saddle is the same

Thanks you can call me bill I was wondering where to find a pic of it as I have a lousy weaver 4 d and it sucks for spur and saftey work I was looking at the navaho vario as my budget is pretty limited but I'm looking around.

There is a hidden screw in the side of the ring, that goes through the rubber boot. Once removed, the rubber washer comes out, and the ring can be mover farther back or forward. It was really cool to see an adjustable ring.

Does anyone know if the rings could be used as attachment points and can be directly clipped into with karabiners?

anyone see this picture from the Petzl catalog?
Curious as to who this is in the picture, and if they are a practicing arborist.

I have not used my saw without a lanyard for many years now...

He does have a good one-handed saw on the other side.

It would be hung through the small hole in the loop not through the loop though.

The picture is of an arborist model not a model arborist.

Don't know if you can say that accurately, maybe you have first hand knowledge?

Anyway you cut it, I have serious reservations in hanging a 500 dollar saw off of a Caritool without a lanyard back up.

Got to say the ring is clever, but really nothing a shakle couldn't do. I'd have to see it a bit closer before making any final judgement calls.

Gerry what I like about this ring is it eliminates a shackle.
I am of the firm belief that the more connections you have, the more could go wrong.

Also, a shackle can impede the sliding ring or biner when it travels across the bridge and encounters the shackle.

Check the Glide bridge for an example. They put a rubber washer at the ends so the sliding ring/biner does not get hung up where the cover and the core of the bridge meet.
Any lump or obstruction (such as a shackle) gets in the way. IMO.

What seems to me a weakness in the Sequoia, is the flat webbing attached to the rings.
Looks awfully easy to accidently cut...

That pic is prescisely the reason I have a deep distrust of Petzl's apparent cashing in motives re the arb industry, carrying a saw like that is one of the most pathetic things I have ever seen in this industry.

Petzl must try harder when it comes to arb.

Take a closer look at that pic, if the guy is right handed the Zubat is positioned for the Samurai pull out - across the body from left to right, a technique favoured by some arborists.

Now this is conclusive proof that that dude aint an arborist, cause if he does draw his zubat out of its scabbarb, he's gonna rip his aluminium biners to shreds within a couple of hours climbing if he's doing a big pruning job.

Now if the guy is left handed then the saw is facing the wrong way, he gonna pull the saw out like some dumb cowboy would a backwards holstered gun. A serious arborist knows how stupid this is, and so should Petzl, but they don't, because when it comes to arb they're clueless.

Its unforgivable!
