Will see you there for sure. I'm breaking out a keg of my personal stash of a Belgian Saison we made back in the spring.. I'm sure it will be finished before the slide show.. then the old fart (that would be me) can go home and snooze..

It took me a week and someone else pointing it out before I noticed it.

I liked My Asolo 520TPS best for FL, but they fell apart within 6 months.

Anything with a grippy compound, and low tread depth should be good. I hate FL in lug soles, the rope is always getting caught in there, IMO.

Ask this in the Competition forum, ill bet you'll get some great responses.

Limmer Standards aren't the best for FL in, their lightweight, and especially their Ultralights would be far superior.

I find that all leather boots don't do very well in our extreme texan heat. Even treating them weekly with beeswax couldn't prevent the leather from cracking prematurely. I've had better look with mountaineering boots that have the haevy duty rubber coating on the lower half of the boot. They are great looking boots though, and I will reccomend them to friends who travel for hiking. I would have loved to own a pair of them when I lived close to the alps.

hah funny i read and followed this post since you began it and i room with pete limmers son at the university of new hampshire he was surprised when i showed him the post about his small family owned business!

My Limmer Standards are doing great! Breaking in nicely, not quite there yet, maybe another month? I have some good sore calluses on the balls of my feet from the friction.

What UNH campus you guys @? Durham?

Boots are 5 months old now, and doing great! 6-9 month mark is where all my boots start to fail. These are holding up real well. Only downside is the eyelets they use are opening and crushing down on the laces with daily tree climbing. Easily pinched down or pried open, but a PITA nonetheless. Might have them changed out when they get new soles next year, or the year after hopefully. Another nice thing is the laces they use. Not sure what they are, but they are incredible. 5 months and no signs of wear. Bought an extra set as my Wescos and Asolos go through 2-3 sets a year.

Yes to all those questions. I FL in them all the time, don't even notice the heel. They are definitely a heavy boot! They are made in Meindl factory, BUT the Limmers make custom handmade boots in their shop in Intervale, NH. They specialize in custom one off boots, especially for odd feet. Think they are around $650 and an 18 month list? Read back through this thread, lots of good info in it.

Limmer boots were on the feet of the first USA assault team on Mt Everest in the 50's, same design and materials as todays boots I was told.

I got my Limmer Lights about a month after Bull got his Limmer Standards. They are awesome and I can't say enough about them.

I don't footlock, only SRT, but I'm sure that they would be fine.

This all came about, the posting an update, because I was shopping in whole foods yesterday and saw an older gentleman with a pair of Limmer Lightweight on. All I could muster like an idiot was "Limmers?" He smiled and nodded, then almost mowed me down in the parking lot and saluted me.....weird.
