Negative blocking: can we find better words?

I've always called it "butt roping". That's the term I learned 30 years ago at Davey from old timers that early in their careers wore high boots and chaps. Back then not many pulleys were used so it was either in a crotch or a false crotch. I still call it butt roping, irregardless of using a crotch or pulley.
 
After reading the entire thread, I still have no idea why it matters what you call it. Wood fall down, rope catch wood, lower wood down-ing.

It is for simplifying communication.

Naming it a GOOD name and calling it something universal is a way to communicate with others about a certain roping process; condensing all the long details into one or two words and labeling it and using words that make sense and therefor stick in your mind.


A way of simplifying our communication and making it more clear, so we know what the heck the other person is referring to.

All industries have their own language that's understood by those within it. Call the secret language of the society of free and accepted arborists...
 
Whatever you want to call it if you want to see some that made me gasp go to David Drivers YouTube channel, "thexmanjdd", out around 28 min. or so in his new vid.
