HH 2

I vote the slick pin but wonder if you put something more like the QD pins we use in the military. The have button you push in the head of the pin which retracts a ball at the other end. The work quite well and don't require extreme tight tolerances when used. They would not meet the three motion rule but would be two. I am unaware of a pin that takes tree motions for extractions.

I really think that you guys might be obsessing on the idea of how much better a slick pinned dogbone could make the HH. Thats OK and I know that if one can be made safe and functional, Paul will be the right person to determine that. But as it is, the dogbone has proven itself as bomb proof and in my eyes, beautiful in its simplicity. Once you get the right hitch cord and rope combination there is rarely any adjustments. I have my hitch cord cut to the length that works for me and tie the stopper knot in the same place everyday, bounce on it a few times to set it and that's it. From past experience using different tools in cold weather, it is easier for me to tie a stopper knot than work a small slick pin.

Its prob just me but I dont need slick pins on a HH, like the way dog bone is bomb proof...tying stopper knot easy and fast...it might just be me though..lol

Agreed.

I like the stock setup myself. Part time climber and rarely go over 3 or 4 hours up in the tree, the price point for what I get can't be beat IMHO. (original HH, that is)

I've read about this thing forever and think it's what will fit my needs. I was waiting on the new version, but spring is here and I wanna start my learning curve soon.

I inquired about if there was a rough estimate of when this product will be available. The professional response was NO.
Meh. I'm not in any rush, my original HH is still going strong and probably will be for many more years. I'd rather have Paul take his time, refine the new version, iron out all the quirks and release a superior product. Whether he release it next week or next year doesn't affect me, either way I'm buying one.

I didn't want to bother PCTree to much. He's gotta be pretty busy. I'll leave that up to the guys who are on a first name basis with him. If I like the original, I'll most likely buy the new version also.

I hope you are not put off by that Hammer. It's actually a gift for us to be included in the conversation at this point. If you read the threads on all of Paul Cox's products he is looking for things to be 100% right. Also product production is not the only thing he needs to get done in life.

As I understand it he has been testing this for a year. I think if he wasn't being on the generous side he would just wait until he was fully ready for release before he let any info out. So perhaps some wait is a normal part of the process.

Treestuff is apparently out of stock, but Wesspur has them. It's a great device, so if you haven't got one, go ahead and get it, and when the new one comes out you can go ahead and get that one too.

Agreed. I have two originals and I'll probably get two new ones for myself and my climbers.
