HH 2

I will have to look into it, not sure its doable since the HH2 dog bone is 3/8" thick not 1/2 like the original. I for one take my HH of the rope EVERY time I need a new hitch cord so I wont be using one of these:lol:. I usually only make stuff I want!

Kevin whats the thinnest diameter pin??

Slick pin or no slick pin, I just want two of them, yesterday...lol. I can honestly say that I have tried out all the major devices on the market and I keep coming back to my original HH.

With any luck I will have them at the SRWP workshop in State College for everyone to test run.

Donny, I was at a clinic a while back with all of the new tools in play. The new HH 2 drew the majority of interest and that surprised even me.

We are all so different! I can't believe how many people that make a living using ropes are put off by the simple tying and adjusting of a stopper knot.

Hey Dave,
I totally agree with you. Our industry is one of the few "industrial at height" professions that relies on the ability to properly tie knots almost on a daily basis. A properly adjusted hitch with the Hitch Hiker is very crucial, as you well know. Stopper knots are some of the most simplest knots to adjust.

Mine was pure laziness. It wasn't tying the knot but tying it in the right spot. Now that I read I could just mark the friction cord so I would tie it the same each time I would get one again. Ya I know don't even say it, sometimes you have to look at the whole forest, lol.

I don't know about you guys, but after a full climb the stopper knot cinches down pretty tight for me and it can take more than a minute or two to untie it. Plus, I like the hitch super tight. It takes me a few minutes just to get it tight enough when I'm changing hitch cords. I'm not going to waste that kind of time at every tree.

Well its easy to see why you would like a slick pinned dogbone than. I don't know what the difference is but I can honestly say it takes me about 30 seconds to untie and mabe 60 seconds to retie and adjust. I always take my HH off the line at the end of the day and sometimes even between trees if I need to change ropes. Maybe it is because I do it so often that it has become easier for me?

I guess we all have a slight case of ADHD. Knots need too much concentration :D One of the major perks of the ol' Bulldog Bone.

I have never used the Hitch Hiker, but the added slic pin version looks really sweet.

Ha! I wonder how much our rope choices effect how we view knot tying? I love tying knots and playing with my ropes but all of them have great knot-ability, even my friction cords.

Well for the HH, it seems like you can really dial in the length and tightness of your hitch with that slic pin. It seems like tying and untying that stopper knot in the cold of winter would be the biggest pain. But let's all give thanks that winter is coming to a well needed close.

Paul didn't you mention a possible slack tending addition for the hh1? Or is that just for the hh2?
Hey Aaron,

I came up with an accessory to tend the HH1 which clips into a shoulder harness and makes it real easy to tend. You can check out another thread called new device to tend Hitch Hiker. I'm a fan of the Hitch Hiker, and I think this works nicely with it.
