HH 2

20 bucks would be fine......can't wait to see the new HH being sold.....if there's an option to buy a quic pin (a slant on the slic pin name), I'll gladly take shell out 20.

How much time do you think that would really save? All designs are a trade off. I also climb on the compact Bulldog Bone. If I have a tree that will benefit by using a tool that can be put on and taken off the rope fast, that is what I will use. It is a great tool.

The Hitch Hiker can do things no other single line tool can do. It has a proven track record that I have witnessed first hand of being capable of handling anything a climber can dish out. With a tool this rugged, you can bang, jam and toss to your hearts content. Unclipping it from your harness for a redirect and leaving it on you rope will work in almost every tree. It just requires a slightly different way of looking at the work plan. If it does need to come off the line, it can do that too.

So for myself, I would be hard pressed to alter such a well proven package for something as simple as not wanting to tie one stopper knot.
Dave,
Do you know the inside diameter of the dog bone holes? Teufelberger has their new epiCORD in a 9.3mm (11/32"). I'd like to give that a try on the HH2. EpiCORD is a fantastic cordage.

I have been hearing good things about the epiCord and will have to try some myself. The holes on the dogbone are 11mm so it should fit. The 9mm Arb-Pro I am using fits with non tapered, taped ends.

That was my fellow co-worker (Aaron feather). He wants to get some more made and break tested. But unfortunately, the company he wants to make them only does like 100 or so at a time. Very pricey for the time and materials.

I'm with DSMc though, but untying those knots can get tricky sometimes.

Aaron is an accomplished climber, sharp and intuitive. If he suggests an innovation I would take a close look. DSMc I understand/ respect your point, but as you well know it is not the only one. I use the HH and have spoken with Aaron. He is on to something ;) Perhaps more than you or I can imagine! Lets's see where responsible testing and experience takes us. Let's follow the mantra "Let it grow" However, let us temper it with experience, intelligence and a mind to the future. As you have done to this point.

I would definitely prefer to have a 'multi-action' slick pin. The single action doesn't cut it for life support, IMO. On a RW, I don't mind the single-action slic pin. Its not life support.

Just two days ago, I was watching my lock, on my locking snap open again and again against something. Nothing against the gate. Just the lock.

Confidence that freak accidents don't happen with gear, to speak of much, makes me more confident as a climber. I will not be worried about things. I will climb faster and with less stress. I will expend less energy.
