DMM throw hook.

At first, radio silence since Monday. Apparently when I first ordered blaze 49’ hank to be spliced went out of stock the day after I placed my order. So I switched to velocity last week and it’s taken over a week to make 49’ and one hand splice. I don’t think it’s issues with treestuff guys as it with sherrill tree

I have called and was told Monday they would respond later that day with an update. Also sent numerous emails. No update. I can’t wait to use the velocity with hook as well!!!

I would imagine that the Velocity is going to be a good match. Lightweight and firm construction will make it easier to manipulate the Hook. I've used Velocity in the past for a long 2 in 1. I have to look to see if one of the old ones is still good enough to use for a short Hook rope. Good luck with your order!

Until Reed gets here... I believe it is the construction, Reep Schnur has a fairly loose weave, is very supple, equals more tangles than a more tight weave or dense structure/material line. Thinking of 10mm HTP as the opposite end of the spectrum from Reep Schnur for a 10mm line.

Thanks for that, fellas. Met up with @Santiago Casanova over the weekend and got to feel his reep schnur. I can see where it would tangle up. I've got a couple sections of spliced cougar blue from a pinched 120' climbing line that I'll likely try out for now.

It took many emails and two phone calls to ts and one to sherrill, but alas I finally got my tracking number and three weeks later I will be getting my hook and custom rope delivered tomorrow! I hope it’s been worth the wait. I will continue to use treestuff but man this order was a complicated one. Lol
That wait would be killing me! I'd call to check on the order and put some pressure on them. You're going to like it once you get it. I'm interested in finding out how you like the Velocit

I think the 10 or 11mm HTP would be a good choice because it would allow the hood to twist with the rope very easily. Samson or Teufelberger static would work well also.

I got try a captain hook this weekend and it is a game changer. My list of stuff to spend my money on grows: captain hook, HHX or unicender (can't make up my mind), SAKA, mag throw bag (I might convert an old hard drive for this purpose) and of course more rope.

@Santiago Casanova; Good one, not to belittle the complaints mentioned in most of these cases. These folks thought nobody would listen at the time, and they were probably right. In some cases the complaints were made and ignored way back when.

P.S. Would you mind correcting my misspelling in the post above? I was trying to edit my post but the software was not cooperating. Once it gets quoted only you can change it. Harassment has only one "r" in it. Thanks.

Tim

Hey, Santiago! What is the HHX you are referring to in this post? The Hitch Hiker, or something else? Thanks for your time.

It is the hitcher hiker X, soon to be released. I was fortunate enough to get to see how yoyoman has the HHX set up. It has a wider, finger friendly, body on it.

I am still leaning toward the unicender. For me, mid line attachment is a must. I am going to switch to SRT for access and I want to be able to take my canopy cinched access line, set a friction saver and work DRT on the uicender. I am currently usind kernmaster with a hitch climber pulley in DRT. I really like that setup except for ascent.

I am excited but my wallet just went into hiding.
I heard that! I live WAY too close to WesSpur. I went in there two weeks ago just to pick up a Pinto. Yeah, right. They dangled a used sales demo Zigzag at me for 25 percent off, then I saw their discount and close-out shelves. Predictable results! A very sad tale. And it is raining every day like a cow whizzing on a flat rock so I can't even play with the goodies yet..

. . . mag throw bag (I might convert an old hard drive for this purpose). . .
Hey Santiago, I bought a couple of those super magnets on eBay, pretty cheap and I had them in three days. They are totally bad-ass; I could not even pull them apart without driving a kitchen knife between them. But I wrapped each one in some thin foam and heavy, soft leather, and the pull is just right now. And it cushioned them somewhat in case I jerk one back from a throw onto my nose.

Trango Vergo is available from REI, direct from Trango and probably other gear retailers. There was a limited batch recall in 2017, that's been resolved. Handle problem, reminiscent of the Petzl Grigri II which also had a handle recall in the first release. I'd be interested in the Vergo except I already have a Cinch. Vergo looks better than the Cinch as far as having a more robust handle. Vergo still looks a good match for a Hook line progress capture.
