DMM throw hook.

Sorry AJ, but your above weaponized Hook was already proposed by me on pg 23, post # 454. I have a copyrighted trademark that is pat. Pending at the present. If you don't remove your post by 12 PM today you can be guanteed that two hired goons will be knocking on your door bright and early tomorrow morning.

Oh my god, there you go, this world is so unsafe, you get a good idea and the next thing you know the goons are busting down the door!

Ok, so when is the SpruceMaster Grapple Cannon™ aka SMGC™ (also known as "The Schmuck", unable to get a trademark on this ancient slur) coming out? People are waiting to throw money at you!

Note: looking a little deeper into the origins of the term "Schmuck" it literally means family jewels in Yiddish and therefore the SMGC can also be called "The Balls". 'nuff said.

Because "doublebag" (TM, Pat. Pend., copyright 2016) is already taken by @bonner1040 lolz...

Fuck yeah Surveyor - great find! - I wonder how they activated the release?... Even if a drone could just pull a throw line itself over/through the side of a tree for me (if the tree has enough space)...

If I had someone operating the drone setting lines ahead of me - it could make this particular job of mine easier.

We just used a double slip knot. Actually the second tree we used it on the drone got stuck and we needed to do an aerial rescue.

My only complaint was with DMM maybe. Does the hook not come with the 2mm & 5mm Allen wrenches, or did I get the oddball bag. Not a big deal for me but....come on DMM, stop cheaping out. Lol.

I'd be worried if you didn't have theses wrenches!

I just hadn't thought that way about the Captain as I have the tools and got a kit.

I suppose it'd be like opening an IKEA box and discovering no tools. Bugger!

It might be their version of an intelligence test. If you're not smart enough to already own a set of common hand tools then you probably shouldn't be using the Hook. I know I use that argument all the time in work. We don't ship wrenches either, same thought process. If you don't own wrenches you probably shouldn't be hanging speakers over peoples heads.

Thanks for chiming in with that info Waldo - greatly appreciated! I'm a little slow, and struggling to picture exactly how you'd tie and release the double slip knot?...

Thanks for your honesty in letting us know the drone got stuck later... - I guess all new tech comes with its negatives as well as positives.

Well after a few hours of playing today I am so glad I went with Velocity as my rope. After many attempts with hitch cords I just gave up and switched over to mechanicals. They all worked great but since I had a spare Zillion body I decided on that one for a while. It tends like butter, runs a 3:1 great, and releases well one handed. If I get vertical I definitely want a second hand on the tail (little jumpy as an almost SRT configuration). Never could have had so many choices if I went with the stock 10mm line in the kit.

Considering purchasing the Hook and going with a smaller line for easier storage. Anyone see a problem from a safety standpoint on going with WesSpur 9mm Samson accessory cord? It's rated at 4300lbs double-braid. Or even Sterling 8mm rated at 5170lbs?

Do what ever you want but the 10mm Reep Schnur is dialed, it light, well rated, and durable.
