Charlotte Arborists Association's 16th Annual TCC!

This event was extremely cool. The folks there were, of course dynamic, funny, witty and simply great folks...and yes, these men and women sure know how to climb and make it look way too easy for this - only climbed once before - novice.

Props to the New Zealanders, the folks in Charlotte for hosting the event and working so hard to get things set up and take everything down.

Props to Odis Sisk. If you haven't heard about the great story regarding Odis and Bruce Smith and a young man, Sydney from Brazil, well know that some of your fellow great arborists took it upon themselves to give this young fellow a week's worth of free climbing, bedding, food and the inspiration and many techniques to take back to Brazil to teach some of his peers. This is truly a sharing industry. And, yes I am part of the Odis Sisk fan club. I did find out I could not be president. But I am waiting for my fan club packet in the mail.

Dang, sounds like I missed an outstanding time.

Odis and Bruce are both a class act. The industry is very fortunate to have professionals like this. I have also stayed with Bruce and family. It was just like being at home.

Re: Charlotte Arborists Association\'s 16th Annual

Great Job Stephan and John. Patrick is very lucky to have you fellas on board.
What a wonderful thing these competitions are. A few years ago when I got involved in competing I realized a full on battery recharge of sorts when I got home. You see you get caught up in the daily grind of answering the phone and doing estimates and changing chipper knives and blah, blah blah- and then you realize what is important and why you love it. Being kind of isolated out here in the never-never of skew gardens I forget sometimes about the enthusiasm that exists for our profession. I could go on and on.
Also I am very proud to see where the profession has arrived in Charlotte having been around doing tree work there in the period between 79 and 92.
Yes sir very proud indeed to have at one time been a part of Heartwwod in Charlotte and now carrying on the tradition in D-town. Thanks every one and great to meet some of yous.
PS- the drive home was great- I stopped at the Big Texan where you can have a 72 oz. steak for free if eaten in one hour. I saw a guy who had just accomplished this grizzly feat in 47 minutes!

Nor did she bother to seek me out either, although it would have been easy to spot me, I was the one bossing everyone around!

Sorry to stray off topic but I have an important question. Easy P, in your avatar you have a very fat right hand, whassup wi that? did you get stung by a bee or something or do all norf kacalackians have sausage fingers?

Re: Charlotte Arborists Association\'s 16th Annual

Grover,
That's harsh dude, you know EZ is really sensitive about his weight issue! Regardless of his size he still tops out large white oaks all the time, by himself!

Harsh but true Morice....harsh but true.

I feel that it is my responsibility to keep Easy P grounded otherwise he'd get too big for his proverbial boots. His latest avatar suggests that he is becoming a parody of himself gettin all Jay Z up in our faces instead of the De La Soul Easy P we all know and love.

Into everyone's life a little Jay Z must fall.

But I did leave my wallet in El Segundo.

Regarding the ham fists:

Yes, I believe I was stung by bees. Normally my wrists are slender, and my fingers are long and sinewy.

How'd you work the throwline? do you carry a bag of bees with you when climbing and stick your right hand in to achieve the bloated fingers that are required to launch a throwbag into the canopy?

Morice sent me this pic of your hands pre bee stung -
