Anyone conceal carry while working?

Anybody that knows my boys want to chime in?

Royce- you forgot to include your address.

I can see both sides. If I was sure all they wanted was the string trimmer then here ya go. But I have to balance that with the knowledge that people do get killed in armed robberies.

No I don't have a good recommendation for a holster to wear while working.

Namaste!

My house is unlocked, my car is unlocked, my shed is locked, but the key is just inside the back door. My dog and I may have a few questions for you if you're seen walking away with my chainsaw, but you're certainly not going to be shot at. I was raised to believe shooting/killing people over material things is stupid.

I'm with you 100%.

Exactly the same at my place except I'm armed to the teeth. Oh, and my house is locked and no one is going to walk in by accident. It would be a forced entry. Once in the house, all bets are off, as is the law here.

I have toyed around the idea of taking my pistol (M&P Shield 9MM) when working since I feel that I should protect myself when going around with a ton of nice tempting equipment when mowing lawns. Seen posts on other forums about people getting mower stolen, being confronted by people ETC.

The problem that I had is I have an outside the waistband holster, and since I am right handed, it is on my right side, which is where the trimmer tends to rest...
Where the funk are you cutting grass in an igloo and are worried about getting ran up on and robbed ? Seriously?

We've had a couple of times where complete strangers have walked in our front door and just started talking to us like we're supposed to know them. I'm fairly new to the area, but apparently it's not abnormal at all.

I think you're even supposed to invite them to stay for supper, or at least a beer.....as is the law here (maybe).

I would thrive in a culture like that. Still, my doors would be locked.

In the culture I live in everybody understands you don't open a stranger's door to their house and walk in.

Saying I'm not going to get up in someone's face, especially with a gun, if they're stealing something is not saying I'm putting a "TAKE IT" sign on my stuff. Situational awareness dictates how I handle my gear. Some neighborhoods, no worries, others, lock it up and don't leave anything unattended.

Maybe, just maybe, there's another problem in society when economic crime is so prevalent that we feel a need to arm ourselves. How about we find some solutions to that issue?

You're not going to sell many guns with an attitude like that.

I agree that my things are not worth a life but this is a personal choice. Freedom isn't free, many men died so that we could be free and our founding fathers realized that part of being free was having the ability to defend ourselves and our property. You cannot rely solely on the police or the military to protect you and your things. 1/3 of murders in the USA go unsolved. http://www.npr.org/2015/03/30/395069137/open-cases-why-one-third-of-murders-in-america-go-unresolved. We have a relatively large country with a relatively small military that is spread out very thin across the globe. If our government can't even keep out undocumented immigrants how are they going to stop an invading army?

By the way, I've had my door kicked in when my family was away from our house. The thieves took just about every tool with a power cord.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

There is more than just the bit about a well regulated militia. The second half says "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed".

Ahhh yes, the daily signal. The online fish-wrapper of The Heritage Foundation.. the same bozos who gave us "Trickle-Down" Economics.
Not that it's on topic; but you brought it up. I suppose you're a Keynsian--Which isn't stupid, just ignorant (possibly oblivious). HELLO--we're $19 trillion in debt. Bet you run your business that way?

Back to the point; I like how you couldn't attack the content of the article--nuff said.

Most of the guys that carry legally are not the ones you should be fearing or talking about. Their not going to pull their gun and shoot you because you called them an asshole. Most will shrug it off and get away from the scene. When they will use it is when they feel their life or their family's life is in danger. like if several are going to jump you or if the other has a weapon. Also a smart gun owner won't pull his if the other has a gun pointed at him. He waits for the time he can.

Most won't ever tell you they have one on them. Now I will admit their are ones that don't need a gun or need to carry one, You can pick those out really fast. They like to brag about what they are carrying and like to show it off.. Showing you gun to friend at the house is different from showing it at the mall.

Their are just a few of scenarios that one should be pulled and a ton of them when it should not. Those that don't understand them should not carry. But why do you think these mass shootings always occur in a no gun zone? They know that nobody there will shoot them. The ones that do that are mentally deranged and need to die by the very people they are trying to kill. Then maybe they will think before entering a place where people carry with the intent to shoot innocent people.

Banning guns will never work, Their will always be killings. Seen a horrible video in the Uk where a guy robbed and beat a guy to death with a crowbar. Horrible.

I know a lot think it will never happen to them cause they never witnessed violence in any way. I have and it can happen to you. happens every day in every state. Hopefully it will never happen to any of you but please don't condemn them ones that prepare for it.

There are a lot of armed people around here, good and bad. Nevertheless, I occasionally fall asleep with the door not only unlocked, but wide open. I think there are a lot of people who need to carry on the job: judges with death threats, divorce attorneys, jewelry store owner, pawn shop worker, pimps, chop shop "employees", etc. I just don't want the hassle and statistically, I'm not concerned.

They do a lot of shooting here on new years eve. The sad thing is 90% of those people are shooting in the air with no regard of where those bullets are going to come down. Not so bad in the country but in the city it's really dangerous.

I used to work at a place that had a housing project down the road and they were always shooting in the air. We would find bullets in the parking lot all the time. A couple of cars were even hit and the building always was getting repaired from bullets hitting on the roof.

With a gun should come responsibility. There are some that don't have it. We used to leave our windows and doors unlocked here too, but the city has grown like crazy and thieves and punks have moved in. The thefts have went up tenfold. All three of my neighbors have been broken into during the day when they were at work. I have been spared mainly because my house is visible from the road and I have a fenced in yard with a big dog. But if you have something they really want. they will figure a way to get it. I've found the best thing is to keep everything out of sight, that way the ones that drive around scoping the neighborhood out don't see it.

Once again, this proves the issue is just violence in American society. What gives rise to that is what needs to be understood. You can't perpetually undermine the majority of society to the point where they have more to gain through criminal activity than legal, legitimate employment.
