Adjustable Rope Bridge

Frank I think with a little welding this could totally happen. When it slows down at work I will see what I can do. Don't go holding your breath otherwise the next time I call I will have to ask for blue boy.

Loving the idea of this Frank... For purely selfish reasons, I'm wondering if these could eventually be incorporated onto Rigging Paws/Plates (they're on the ends of my rope bridge)?... Just putting the idea out there...

I'm pretty sure that's the idea.

It could , although Richards version for the paws is what I used until I got the MCRS. Now I am missing the ability to adjust the bridge, but I love the saddle to much to give it up just for that reason. The whole concept could certainly be adapted to a paw later although I would probably redesign the paw for better saddle use.

Well after some tweaks on the models I am about ready to actually make a real version that I can hang on and try out. Have a torsion spring designed but need to make one before I start cutting metal. The cam itself will most likely be 3D printed stainless steel, I can have it printed for far less then machining it even out of aluminum and I think SS would hold up longer. The main body would have to be Aluminum just to keep the weight reasonable. I'm hoping to keep it about 7oz total weight. I will keep you all updated as I move along with it. I am hoping to have a fully functional version with me at the expo in November if not sooner.

3D printed cam, nice! I think the whole concept of this is great. Looking forward to watching the journey Frank.

I think this is going to need its own thread. Any name been thrown around for this? Something from the MonkeyLove lab has to have a cool name (and logo too).

Hey... MonkeyLoveLabs has a nice sound to it. Oh wait, maybe I'm jumping the gun on this naming thing, haha. You are going to need a cool name tho.

cheers
Jason

This will complicate your design but might make it asimpler unit.

Instead of a ring which requires a biner/shackle/screwlink attachment incorporate a pin into the loop like on a shackle or the Petzl rings.

Swivel end???

Was thinking about a split myself Tom, especially on this prototype. It will be much easier to take off and on my MRCS if I can do a removable spacer, ala Petzel.

What about making something similar to the old butterfly shackles. Text me in the AM I have some old one I can send you with the springs as soon as you send me your address.

Still waiting on the 3D printed SS parts (Version 1) but if that all goes well then I think this is my next step. 3D printed parts are all about volume of material used. This model is moving towards an all 3D printed SS assembly (strength dependent) so it is focusing on less volume while still maintaining 25kn. At least according to Solidworks, based on the material properties from the printer.

I am hoping to get it tested, although the thoughts of destroying that much time and money really hurts. How it will proceed when all is said and done, who knows at the moment. I can see why private invention is so painful though. Spending other peoples money is easy, spending my own sucks. lol.
