Adjustable Rope Bridge

Do you guys think a kernmantle will work for a bridge? I'm new in the tinkering and stay on the cautious side as I don't care for the once in a lifetime experiences.

Many years ago the company that makes the Butterfly harness sanctioned the use of rope as a replacement bridge. If I remember correctly their recommendation was to use a piece of climbing rope

I've used 3/8" KM III for most of my bridges

Thanks, guys. I really like the adjustable bridge idea. I've just been slip knotting extra and putting a biner through it when needing slack taken out. Has anyone made a good system with something other than the device in the video?

I have been using the CT Roll N Lock on my TM for a few weeks now. It seems to work fine. I don't need it all the time so I just clip it on when I do, without strapping it down. It stays put in use and I can just take it off and hang it on my harness when I don't need it.

I might be a bit confused, if your not using the CT rollnlock all the time, and take it off your bridge....wouldn't the bridge be at maxed out length? Or are you retying stopper knots?

Mike, I don't really have my bridge long, just kind of normal but there are times when I like it shorter. That is when I use the CT rollnlock. It allows fast and variable adjustments. Much better than tying knots.

I think I get it. Thanks for clearing that up.

That's why I was thinking ascent and spar work. I'm sure there are many more ways in which a shorter bridge comes in handy, but those were the obvious ones to me. I don't think I need 6 foot of bridge, but it would be nice to shorten it when need be.

Yes, you are right on the money, Mike. Spar work and now with the BDB ascent because I am finding it works better when kept down low on ascent when tending from the top link. Though this works great, it can cause the BDB to disengage if too much rearward or downward pressure is applied to it. So at those times I will shorten my bridge.

Ordering one. This looks way too functional. Man.....my new toy budget for 2015 is just about all accounted for. Come on tax return, lol.
