Really dig this video it definitely simplified and cleared up a lot of questions. What’s the lifespan on the cordage/sling? And will there be replacements?
That’s actually a pretty good thought! I think the thimble terminating might be too small of a bend radius when descending might have to add a ring before the small ring prussic just to spread it out a bit kind of “chicken rings style” like Dave at wesspur called it.
the tall 100’+ trees are a different animal, go for the highest quickest shot and maneuver via alternating lanyard, and if only on lanyard I’ll use the cinching bight if I’m a good distance between, but with an overhead reach of 8 foot or so combined with a pruner or a quick monkey fist I can...
I just set a canopy anchor and avoid the use of the friction saver, have a line dedicated for pines so that first few feet are permasapped. I have in the past done like you’ve described using a pulleysaver or the fimblsaver depending on the size of the trunk but you’re obviously limited to the...
They recently started one, it’s x for 6 months and it resets. If anything is damaged or if you’re caught breaking policy you lose the incentive. I don’t find safety incentives to work, being safe in this industry keeps you alive and in one piece if that’s not enough incentive than find a...
Jeremiah and Jack are really solid dudes! Very personable and more than willing to talk and share knowledge. Have really appreciated their articles in that last 6 months really highlighting the difference between arboriculture and tree work.
It’s an interesting take, if we look at even the last 10 years and how much the climbing and other industry techniques has changed but yet like he states a lot of our BMP’s haven’t. It’s also kind of reafirmmimg when the z133 took 9 years to update.
They’ve got better air flows/channels from what I’ve heard guys say and they like the pockets better and the chap material doesn’t seem to pick as easy. But only come in black which I’ll never understand, I get it from the hiding stains part but they’re supposed to be the hot weather pant lets...
Any dieback within the crown? I’d lean more toward a soil/root issue due to its location with the water valve box (looks like old wounds to right of the box where they cut previously to access)and sidewalk and maybe a compaction issue with the way the roots seem to pop up throughout that...
The newer models with the blue release tab are a bear to get to release, and the hooks continue to get smaller but we’ll see what the 2026 refresh brings maybe?
Thanks for the information, I’ve seen this saddle floating around a little more now, only real “review” i could find was from Dave at wesspur who spoke pretty highly of the initial quality.
