Truck beds?

I want to replace the standard truck bed (8') on an F250 with a flat (or somewhat flatbed) (shorter sides/wider bed than normal pickup) and also have some toolbox space built in. Part of the motivation is more space for a bigger sprayer or a bigger tank to bring along to refill on the road. Also,.just thinking such beds look more practical for work than traditional pickup bed.

Recommendations?

I found a Bedrock brand "Marble" (model) that has nice tool box space, and maybr most attractive a little door below the tailgate that looks like it could hold pole saw/pole pruner. https://www.bedrocktruckbeds.com/marble

A flatbed with toolbox has the same or more capacity inside the bed than a regular pick up box, and is far more useful. If you're looking for something along the lines of a utility truck, and want to put a sprayer in it, something like what we did with the truck here might work for you. We built this set up ourselves, bought an aluminum flatbed that was too long for the truck, cut it in half and shortened it, and bought a set of toolboxes that we were able to put on the sides.

If it's a truck that is worth spending the money for a new bed, the Gap Hill Aluminum Shop near us can build you anything you like, and at a rather fair price.

What'd you do for the hitch? Was it part of the bed you cut? Just cut the front off?

It's a 2012 truck but only 60,000 miles so should be around for a while...but hard to spend 10k on it.

I'm also thinking of getting an Izusu cab over chasis only and putting the bed I want on that (still not sure what that is... but I'd rather pick it instead of taking what it is). Probably a want a 12-14' bed on that - would like to put the Avant on that to haul around.
