My hook setup. Get out to where you have the hook set, unclip the hook and ddrt with the rope to get back if need be. 50 feet of rope in the bag, ready to deploy. Lots of uses for this. I would never bring throw line into a tree with me. Not because its an all around bad idea, just because it...
A swivel on the bridge allows you to connect the hhx with just a biner between swivel and shackle, but not great for tending device because the biner will be either getting bound up and possible cross loaded, and increased sitback if you tend to the bridge swivel. So once again, swiveleye is the...
If you want easy and quick on and off the harness with the hhx, you need a biner between the shackle and the bridge ring. If you just have a ring on the bridge and but a regular fixed biner between the shackle and the ring, the hhx will be sideways. It works fine like that, but not ideal...
Here ya go. I haven't had any problems with staining, but I buy darker colors for work pants for just that reason. I really like both of these pants. The $44 ones are slightly heavier, and neither will resist any kind of cold, but they are pretty good in heat. Found on the wrangler site in the...
I assume 11mm htp would act the same way. I have never climbed on either. I am surprised also that 12.5 htp is approved for the akimbo because as far as I know it is not approved as an arborist work positioning rope. 1891a is the arborist cert right? I didn't see that anywhere. I think it is way...
I just picked up 600ft of htp 12.5 mm for a special tree job I'm doing at the end of the month. I need it to run a high line between two trees that are about 300 ft apart so I can safely climb a compromised tree in between them. Once that is done, I am planning on cutting a 200ft piece to climb...
I don't remember exactly what the names are, but I found two versions that have served me well. I will try to look them up on wranglers site and get more specifics.
I have had some flattening from the hh2 on imori. Not a whole lot, but enough to make it start slipping a little. Imori is very soft and easy to flatten. I haven't used it on any 16 strand. It hasn't done anything bad to 11mm km3 max or 13mm km3. But I honestly don't have 100's of hours on any...
@rico did you pick a new climbing line yet? I have a tree coming up that, if I choose to accept it, I will want to run a rope between 2 trees over the top of a third tree that has a decayed area in the main trunk that I dont want to climb past. My idea is to use 1/2 inch htp to create an...
I also get 2.8% is 300lbs. Since rope is not going to stretch an equal amount for every pound (or 100 lbs) you add, the one nunber gives us not enough info to extrapolate any additional data.
What is supposed to be used on naked eye splices such as hrc? I hear of some sort of dip, but I don't see it for sale anywhere. And how important is it to dip?
I've been warned, but I've never accualy heard of anyone doing it, or any failures. I previously did a much longer bridge with double braid and it never budged, but much different splice of course. I couldn't make it short enough to not suck with double braid. I only use it for my captain hook...
