Story. The turkey song got me on a country (and western! both kinds!) jag and I came across Dave Dudley's 6 days on the road. Back in the day just out of high school I was in a C+W band and was instructed that at this particular bar Dave would be coming up to play my guitar for this song. Indeed he did between beers including the slap solo. Still have that guitar.
Story. Back when there were record stores in the early 90's I came across a ridiculous album that my friend said I would listen to once and never again. He was mostly right. The band apparently got reincarnated. Twang, my earlier C+W catchall is not the appropriate word for this one. I don't know what is, but it's way out there.
Blame Rick Beato for me finding this and foisting it on the public. Only try to listen once if you dare.
There was a second similar band to which Rick said "assault on your ears"
Prince, once said that “Joni’s music should be taught in school, if just from a literature standpoint.” Thank you Rolling Stone for including four Joni Mitchell songs on the 500 Greatest Songs of...
In penance for my foisting post (bad makes the good seem that much better?) and for a change of mind set to go to a different time to get away from today's troubles, and also to see a 62 blonde strat get thrashed by an expert (warms my heart). He only played it for 3 months but it still counts in my books. He then settled on a chopped up tele afterwards. Wait for 25 or 6 2 4. Encore - I'm a Man he really gets his groove on. No wonder Hendrix admired him.
An old friend of mine in the biz has 20 guitars. Terry Kath was living the dream equipment wise.
Story. When I was a teen I worked where the Scorpions were to play that night and IIRC I was sweeping the floor area in front of the stage when Mickael Schenker was practicing/warming up on stage. I stopped, mesmerised by his playing, to watch, and someone came out to shoo me away because I was distracting him! I got to work/see the concert that night. Good band. I later found once of the used picks under the stage during take down. Still got it.
