    Lanyard adjuster

You should try it, but you should know that the grigri can handle 11mm rope max. I once rappeled down a cliff on puffy 11mm rope with the grigri, it would barely let me descent.

    Lanyard adjuster

I dont know if this helps you, but the Petzl Grigri should work well too, and you could use your lanyard in a RADS configuration if you need to, would be my next choice over the distel knot.

newbie Q: make my own shorter bridge on a cheap harness for RAD?

You want the grigri tobe as low as possible as this increases your stroke (the distance before the grigri bumps into the hand ascender), as this will make your overall setup more efficient. I am using the skylotec record, a sport/tree hybrid harness with a very low attachment point. I tried...

    Soloing in a cedar swamp

Your trees look awesome, kinda like old, majestic beings... I'll have to visit and explore America some day, although I must admit that I cant really comprehend the true scale of the country, Germany is unbelievably small in comparison.

    Newb needing new stuff

Welcome to Treebuzz! I use a 15' 11mm static rope as my lanyard, a pulley/hitch combination makes for easy adjustment.

Yes, I actually started climbing because of the T5 geocaches, but the distances to drive in order to get to new ones are becoming increasingly bigger... Thanks for the tipp though!

I've never been a fan of new standards but.......

Luckily nothing serious happened, is there really no Standard for cutting next to anchors? You'd think somebody would have thought of that in the last 15 years of SRT... How far was the rope actually cut?

First german treebuzz rec climbing meetup

Turns out the only german rec climber I have meet on here, @climbstihl, lives only 40km (25 miles) away from me, and is only 3 years older than I am! Today the weather got better and we finally met up and climbed in my local forest. We picked out a ~40m high beech tree and our final TIP sat at...

    Favorite Tree Tent or Hammock

I just ordered an amazonas hammock. It will arrive today, I will probably test it over the weekend. I hope the hammock works well for tree camping, if not I will probably have to look into other hammocks/portaledges. Edit:I tested it on the ground, very comfortable! Sadly I have not had any...

    Rec harness?

I use the skylotec record, its a very nice harness. Very lightweight at 700g(1.5 lbs), enough gear loops and not too uncomfortable. I'd say the maximum hang time is at around 1-2 hours. I can only recommend it, its great! Edit:it seems to be a lot cheaper in Germany, I got mine for 160€ (~190$)...
