You guys are probably right, I'm doing way more than some others my age. I'm in a time of my life where I can afford to do nothing, I guess. Still feels wrong though :D
I'm not planing to start a company any time soon, I dont even know if I will do something with trees as my main job. I kinda want to do some rec climbing courses, something where I can climb and make a bit of money off of it. Studying arboriculture would also be something I'm interested in, but...
Damn, I haven't gotten around to doing much in my 16 years of life, and you hired a employee at my age. Really makes me wonder what I could be doing if I tried.
I'd see it that way from their product website, maybe someone who has used both saws can comment on it.
edit: The 36V one is, to my suprise, not brushless and instead uses a brushed motor which is not as reliable. That'd be a downside.
edit 2: Makita makes a brushless 36V tophandle too, it can...
The 36V Model uses 2 batteries where the 18V model uses 1. It therefore has more battery capacity. The 36V also has a higher chain speed, which means it is more powerful. This is not fully correct from a physics standpoint, if it has the same Force it is more powerful. This should be the case...
Makita makes a top handle saw, great thing is that you can also use their batteries with every other power tool imaginable. I think that (or the rear handle one) would be the one electric saw I'd buy, but I'm also not a work climber so I wouldn't be using it in a tree most of the time.
It's a bit stronger than your average high beam. Modern LED technology is amazing, Fenix makes a flashlight that makes 11000! Lumen. The brightest bike lights available make about 8000.
I have a Fenix HP25R and a Fenix HM50R.
The HP25R is nice, it has a 400 lumen 180° floodlight which lets you work without even thinking about where you point the light, and a 1000 Lumen spotlight which has a very good range. It's 18650 Cell lasts a long time (3h on the highest setting) and can...
I too recommend either using a ropewalker system with a simple 2:1 MRS system, or a RAD system with a Petzl Rig/ID. The MRS ropewalker is the more efficient one, but it's also harder/more expensive to set up. RADs is nice and easy to use, but it's also pretty inefficient. You can find some good...
I'd like to help you, but this is a tree climbing forum. Most people here are professional arborists, or recreational tree climbers. climbers I dont climb on rock, and I think there aren't many here that do.
Trees dont have holds, so tree climbing is mostly rope ascension, we use a lot of gear...
Not tightly woven? I guess you are talking about braided paracord then, this is the cord I'd buy as paracord:
Tightly woven sheath, strong core. Pretty good abrasion resistance.
@Bango Skank Fishing line seems interesting, I'll buy myself a roll of it and test it out, I'll also have to see what strength works best though.
An interesting thing I've found is that I can get cheap braided cord that is branded as "paracord", but resembles the dacron cord above, or I can get...
