Are you sure it's a Red? Where are you located? I have been dealing with Crypt a Gall Wasp here on Cape Cod for a few yrs, but it only affects the Black Oaks.

Good luck finding a reliable person with their own tools and transportation. That sounds like a contract position to me. Personally I wouldn't be a contract climber on the cape for less than $250/ day.

Glad you're ok. I had a 6" crotch rip out on me last fall rigging a 150 lb swinging limb. Not a real shock load at all. I am very glad I was tied in in another lead. Scary stuff.
My Bandit 200XP(disc) will eat anything up to 12". My buddy's Morbark whichever it is(drum) will eat logs faster but struggles with brush, especially the little stuff.
