Treehumper down and getting back up.

Saw the bone doc today. Everything is looking good. Stitches came out and now I've got the big plastic boot on. Still non-weight bearing and have to keep it elevated.
As we were looking at the xrays showing all the screws and plate in my leg the doc quipped, "I can say that I really screwed you!"
Glad he's got a sense of humor.

Some may like to know: Rob has turned a corner in the healing process, imo. Dropped him off at rehab last night smelling of beer (one beer) in the pouring rain. The leg looks really back to normal. Ah, a few scars here a there but the swelling is all gone, good color and he can even move it around which surprised me. He'll be starting his new routine at home soon. I'll be around to keep him in the mix of things so he doesn't go batty without work. Or maybe I get him to do some work. I can't seem to convince him climbing with one leg might not be so bad. lol

My condolences Treehumper. I really hate hearing someone so talented gets messed up by one bad branch. A real reminder for all of us. Thanks for sharing. I really hope you are up in the trees by the end of the year again. May inspire me to write an "Awakening" of my own from recently. Put a little hole in my leg, nothing like what you went through.

maybe its time to look into buying/renting a bucket truck...
I was back in a the bucket 10 days after breaking my left ankle.. at first had a little stool put in there. After a couple days got used to standing on one leg, leaning against the side of the bucket. The guys would bring it down to ground level, then help me in. I'd ditch the crutches for a chainsaw..
That could actually work out to be a nice silver lining for you TH... Its hard to comprehend the productivity of a bucket until you put it in action.

Either way glad to hear the recovery is progressing...

I am sure your bucket makes you money Murph. I can think of roughly once or twice a month I could put one to use. I live in a cottage colony here and very tight quarters. Mostly no room to efficiently run a bucket. A tracked lift? That's a whole different story. For now I am very happy with my Wraptor. Although it is only for ascent, it makes my post ACDF life much easier.

Can't believe I am just seeing this....hope your PT is going well Hump....sorry to hear this hope ya get back in the saddle soon...wishing ya all the best...glad ya still with us...SWING....

Thanks, Winch & Swing. It's going well with the usual hiccups with WC insurer. PT is moving along though it's limited to range of motion for the right leg and maintaining strength.

As for a bucket, well, firstly, I'm comfortable using a bucket. It is on the list of future purchases but not yet. Something else Daniel, as an employee if I go back to work for even an hr a day I no longer get WC. In their world, I have returned to work and therefore no longer qualify for the comp. While medical bills would continue to be paid there would be no income supplement. On top of that, I've gone down the road of rushing back to work before an injury was properly healed. That lead to 6 more yrs of operations and lost time. Not fun. The bone doc is monitoring my progress and keeping me on track. The neurologist is on top of the vertigo that is a side effect of the accident. Just another complication to deal with.

Big day today! after almost 3 mths since the fall, I got the ok to bear partial weight on my leg. I'm allowed up to 40 lbs. So, it's time to get walking in the boot with crutches or the walker. Now I can feel the nerve damage in the heel from the landing. On top of that, I can start driving again! Freedom!!

Today, I'm going to try to get in and, out, of a kayak. This outta be interesting! Thankfully, there's a high tech kayak launch dock to work from.
