    Sawmills

And it looks like your saw is not sharpened quite right yet. Under 10 degrees on the cutter, nearly flat if you dont speak degrees... It should not be jumpy at all

    Sawmills

Bix, Re: the stump that you guys are milling "cookies" off of, Did you cut that at the graft point? Where the 2 species collided? If so, why? I think that cutting that tree to the ground then milling slabs that include the graft union would be spectacular! In my mind it seems to be the most...

    billing for lunch?

I charge for lunch. I have never told anyone, and no one has ever asked. If you work hard, no one should ever question you taking a timeout to feed the beast. My contractors tell me their rate, I don't question it. If I don't like the rate, I go elsewhere. If I am contracting for someone...

    chainsaw pants (again)

Chainsaw pants will never smell good. Especially if you climb in them. I have found no cure. I am positive that clients move upwind on a regular basis. My only solution has been to buy more then one pair... Soon after spending another 300 dollars you will realize that you now have more than...

    Bandit 150 replacement panels

I have a 97 Bandit 150. The panel that holds sits in front of the radiator and holds the window screen is rotting out. Curious of any opinions on replacing that panel. Should I have my local welder fab up a new one? or go through Bandit? Or are there any aftermarket suppliers that anyone knows...

Tree Frog with hitches and pantin

In regards to what you are trying to do and the larger diameter rope suggestion, there is the Muggs system. Probably applicable to your question at hand. http://www.treebuzz.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=324385&an=0&page=1#324385 show us what you figure out

Re: Will we have CEU\'s and a new merit badge? http://www.smokymountainnews.com/news/item/2785-trying-to-preserve-a-national-treasure When I visited Joyce Kilner recently I saw huge hemlocks seemingly sheared at the base by what I thought were high winds... In hindsight I remember thinking...

X Man, Thanks for taking the time to illustrate your take on this oak. I have very little experience with guying and propping. Your posts showed a rookie some cool options. I have been following the thread closely. there is a ton of knowledge on this forum and the fact that you took the time...

    a different maple id

If you are in Washington, then its is likely Acer glabrum. Western mountain maple. Which I have seen in pretty spectacular color. Particularly in the Juinta range in Utah. I remember the species from the Seattle area, but never saw it in autumn, so I cannot comment on your exact locale.

    Euro Chainsaw Pants

I blew out the crotch of my husky pants. It wasnt a huge hole but showed where the obvious fault was... so I took one of the 100's of left hand atlas grippy gloves thats lieing around, cut out the palm, and sewed it into the crotch of the pants. Nice and stretchy. It survived a winter of...

    Sawmills

I just bought a used Lucas 618 mill. Also came with a 30" slabbing attatchment. The power head needed a total overhaul and is in the shop, but I am pumped on the possibilities. I have been hoarding logs and strange tree growths for years in anticipation... it is a dream come true. In college I...
