nibble at it some on the compression side then back cut with pole saw
and/or rig tie it hard back to another tree and a foot up from the break and to hold fast away from where you are cutting

We tried a padded gear sling from Black Diamond it is Ok for light loads and hold the tongs
Need to try a harness for bigger pulls,
A rack was to fiddly for Dave but he liked a Gri Gri for lowering and speed lining.

We did a large dead Ash removal today. Everything had to be roped down and got away with no lifts/gravity did all the work. Our other groundie, Mo had hold of a few lowers and several tag lines with one hander aka Drummer Dave helping.
