2024 Avant 755i, lots of attachments

You plant much B&B? I just got an auger (Digga 3DSS for the 528. Does great with a 42" bit...and a 24", but that's easy.) And hydraulic pallet forks to lower the trees. I went with that instead of nursery forks because they weigh a couple hundred pounds less.

    Video removed, no longer relevant

Overall very good. But, since you asked, here's my $0.02 (and it may not be worth that much!) *I like the working/people/moving trees/end results clips better than equipment. As a client I don't care about your equipment... just that the job is done well. *0:13-0:15 a whole tree dropping...

2024 Avant 755i, lots of attachments

Are you switching brands for the smaller machine? If so, curious which brand and why the switch? If not, why not keep some of the attachments? I get the forestry mulcher (and stump grinder ?) probably requires more flow than a smaller Avant can offer...but BMG, forks and grapple bucket seem...

Am I going a little overboard with this?

We haul brush instead of chipping. Sometimes I get to thinking "Maybe we should get a chipper". Get close to the idea sometimes...but there always seems to be something to walk it back. Like that!

Am I going a little overboard with this?

If is already endemic, does that really make a difference if you feed it through the chipper or not? What is a reasonable alternative for a whole tree removal? Is there a time of year that the spores are more active than others, and is that the time they were feeding the chipper? Is feeding...

    Wedge Grip failures

Rain day this morning... FWIW, they are color coded, just not really obvious.

    Wedge Grip failures

Maybe I'll use a paint marker and label them... never thought about doing that

    Wedge Grip failures

I know you were in the other thread...but if someone comes across this, I'll cross reference my story of the wedge grips holding as the tree was torn apart y a tornado: Post i n thread 'Cable hardware question' https://www.treebuzz.com/forum/threads/ cable-hardware-question.50839/post-793517 I...

    Cable hardware question

I'm guessing the steel forms the softer aluminum so it's a pretty permanent set. However I also thought galvanized steel and aluminum lead to galvanic corrosion...

    Wedge Grip failures

Yeah, looking for the small hidden number on the bag. Sure would be nice if the stenciled the size in white paint right on the wedge grip.

    Nice...I've never seen those before.

    Cable hardware question

How did you determine it was a "bad batch"? Just clarifying: did you replace all the wedge grips you had ever done? Any pics of what they look like when they failed? Did you install them or others on your crew? (IOW, How confident are you that they were installed correctly)? I'm not...

Do you ever have the occasional customer service experience like this?

Variable pricing based on expectations of the client, yes. Variable pricing based on difficulty vs simplicity of dealing with that client, yes. I don't do variable pricing based on my perception of what their income is. Just because one person makes more or less than another does not make my...

    Cable hardware question

Final PS: I know this is a discussion that has been had 100 times...but if you haven't tried both, I like Wedge Grips a lot more than Rigguys. So stinking easy to install. I've posted in the past, but I was sold on them when a tree we cabled was destroyed by a direct hit from a tornado...

    Cable hardware question

For the cable, if the left side of that pic is "stem A" and the others are "B" and "C", why not just do a cable that goes A to B and another that goes A to C? Some setups make sense with the ring. I'm not seeing it here, but maybe I'm not seeing it right. For the bracing, is one rod enough...

    Avant/branch manager rotation troubleshooting

Yes, they are standard automotive fuses. I don't have a peak detection multimeter...but I'll keep that in mind if I should decide to do more troubleshooting. It's a good idea. Thanks!

Do you ever have the occasional customer service experience like this?

Do you get push back when you quote an hourly rate? People thinking (but maybe not be willing to say it out loud): "I've got a better/harder/smarter job than you (or have been doing the same thing longer, so that always means more money) and I don't get that" (for example)? I find that people...

I've watched that shuttle video probably 3 times. Love hearing the stats they talk about too... How far away those cameras are, sizes of the lenses, speed of the film, etc... Not to mention the stats about the shuttle...12" fuel lines!, volume used, acceleration and speeds...
